Psst's Bruce Eva has written that Bannister & Wiggins will more than likely try their luck as umpires when their playing days are over :yikes:

 Great stuff from both blokes. There should be a lot more of it IMO.

At AFL level, Bannister would be odds-on for central duties since he has a massive engine.... Chief would be a candidate for the hat-n-coat crew.

Both blokes would shit it in at bush or VFL level.

And perhaps this will generate some good will towards us among the umpiring fraternity. Something to make up for Judd's gaffe about 'little man syndrome'.

Didn't Phil Carman umpire up in the bush? Maybe Barry Hall could follow his lead.

I think more players should join the umpire ranks. The AFL doesn't pay them enough to warrant fringe players joining the ranks of the hated ones. If they did, the quality would improve dramatically. It's happened in Cricket with Paul Riefel and another ex-aussie fast bowler whose name escapes me. The poms and indians have had a couple too.

If Bannister and Wiggo want to have a crack at it, good on them. Wiggo, though, has a bit longer to wait.

There would be a good chance he'd listen to players claiming to have touched the ball as a kick goes through the big sticks?

Unless they can bounce a ball, they are not umpiring AFL

He was an umpire here in Bendigo. Did it for the sole purpose of gaining goodwill and media exposure for his business... Can't remember if its plumbing or landscaping. I don't think anyone outside of the 'elites' (that group that will support anyone as long as they pay their membership to theie exclusive social club) bought it.... He's riding the gravvy train.

Is this part of a cunning plan? Are we artfully moving Carlton people to crucial roles throughout the organisation - just waiting for the word to take over and reek vengeance?

Fitzy - Pres AFL
Gough - MCG
Collo - Docklands
Andy McKay - Review panel
Mick Sexton - Tribunal
Wiggo and Banno - umps
Harry Madden - Gov Minister

All we have to do is replace Vlad the impaler with one of our stooges and the comp is ours.

Hope Wiggo and Banno are the central umpires for our next GF after McKay has sent half our opposition to the tribunal after the prelim and Sekko has given them a week each.

Once we do take over, how about we get our draft picks back!

Amusing and enjoyable to reflect on what could be.

Wouldn't it be nice.
