Any news on his payments???

As I said earlier; Stevo and the Club have come to an amicable agreement suiting both parties.

Are you TC's new inside info guy?

Thanks Stevo. The last few years have been a struggle but during the hard times you were our only stand out midfielder.

Best game in Navy Blue was against Richmond in 2008 when Judd was out. Stevo ripped them a new one.

We all know Stevens' limitations but I think deep down we knew his strengths and perhaps they weren't utilised in the best way because until the last couple of years we didn't provide him with the support he deserved and required in order to be of value to us.

Yes, he wasn't as hard at the footy as Fraser Brown or Darren Hulme and his marking was atrocious but his skill with the football was unquestioned. In our darkest days, he was the one midfield player really who we could rely on to hit a target.

Showed quite a bit of character to come back from the first occurrence of his neck injury and at least play in a few more wins and has shown good character and common sense in retiring after this latest neck setback. Tough call for him, but good on him for making the correct decision for his health.

Good to see that he is being looked after and that there has been a good financial arrangement in which the Club, Nick and the AFL are happy and hope his post-football life is a successful one.

AND

Nick, just because you barracked for Collingwood as a kid - I hope you don't go back to that! You're a Carlton man now!

All the best Stevens, I wish you could have played in this successful era at the Blues but you are probably the most skillful in the team. You will be missed on the field.

Yep, great goal. Torpedo if memory serves.

Thanks & all the best, Stevo. Appreciate your efforts.

Can only echo everyone else and wish you all the best Stevo. Great goal on the left in your last game showed the elite skill that you possessed - a pity that you've missed the resurgence era of the blues but appreciate your efforts during the darkest days of our great club.

Thanks Stevens. I wish you all the best and hope that your neck injury doesn't cause you any problems from here on in. Thanks for playing in the navy blue. I'm going to miss those goals on the run from outside 50.

:thanks:

AFL is tough - and you were able to stay the course during some tough times. I would have like you to be a part of success at Carlton - but your health is more important.

Thanks for being a Carlton player - especially during a time when we didnt have much in the way of good players..

Great player who has played under some duress last few years. I will always remember him for his fantastic workrate in the dark years when at times it seemed he was our only midfielder. Fantastic skills and deserved a better end. Also deserved to be spared the vitriolic crap from some TCers. All the best for the future Stevo. Thanks for the memories.

best of luck in retirement Stevo and thanks for the memories... the greatest of which for me was when he chose to play in the pre-season grand final rather than attend the wedding of his brother (as the best man)... a true team player was Stevo and I will personally miss seeing his dash through the middle next year!!

It's fair to say that i never really liked Nick Stevens.................. you all know that!

However....................

It's a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE way for him to bow out of the game and i feel for him.

God hopes that Carlton and the AFL are working with him to provide him with all the medical assistance he requires and i truely hope he has a fit and comfortable life ahead with his new wife.

(P.S. Why the hell was he playing in the first final?????????????????)

Some of the stuff that's been written (not just here) about this guy has been utterly disrgaceful and hypocritical in many cases.

Stevo had his limitations, and had his lapses, but he was a good servant for the club during our most difficult time. Would've loved to see him there when we get back to the top, but we all knew that wouldn't happen. We can only wish him all the best in his post-football pursuits

(and hope that the money issues got sorted out to the benefit of both parties)

Many thanks to you, Nick, for the sterling service you gave to the CFC, especially during the dark years :thanks: . I will miss seeing you as part of the midfield rotation and those running passes and goals!!!! Lastly, it takes strength of character to keep playing under duress, and to retire, against your desire- have a great time watching the rise of the Blues!!!

All the best Stevo. IMO he was great for us during the bleak years. Considering that Carlton was not his preferred destination (as he originally wanted to join the filth) he gave us some great memories and his leadership was priceless during the down times. Probably never got the best out of his body but his skills were second to none.

You'll be missed mate....
