CARLTON star Jarrad Waite will work out with one of the nation's leading knee rehabilitation experts as the club leaves no stone unturned to get the important defender back on the playing field.

Waite is about to embark on an intensive two-week training camp overseen by Suki Hobson, a strength and conditioning coach at the Queensland Academy of Sport and one of the most sought-after rehabilitation consultants in the country.

Great to see the club leaving no stone unturned in Waites rehab work.

Great initiative by the fitness dept.

You'd think there'd be enough work for someone to set up a similar program in Melbourne.

He needs all the help he can get as Waitey is in the high risk category of re injuring the ACL ligament due to the way he lands and plays.

Similar to Burton, and he took some great grabs, and seemed to be OK. Waitey is a few years younger and that will help also....

Wouldn't expect that much from him. He's missed a year of fitness and will miss the important december preseason training where players build there fitness up base before hitting the skills sessions. It takes a god year to return from such an injury and my guess is that we wont see the very best of Waite until 2011

..don't want the club to rush him though, if they're hoping to aim/reach for a round 1 comeback, he better be 100% ready.. ..otherwise i'd be inclined to give him an extra week or two to be sure..

I hope we dont rush him back for round one prematurely, if he needs another 2 or 3 days to be 100% I'd give him that.

Looks like Waite might be OK for Round 1:

Quote:
According to the schedule that we've laid out I should be ready to play my first practice match for the Northern Bullants in March," Waite said. "So if we can hit that target it should hold me in good stead for round one.

We need him fit in September, not March. I am sure the medical staff collectively knows their onions but I hark back to Walker's early start after rehab and his just as early finish for another season.
Get it right, boys and girls. Waite is our most versatile and hard to match up player.

Bingo, and Austin should get plenty of game time in his absence......And hopefully thereafter.

Watching the game against Richmond in round 1 2009 and you can really see what we missed for the second half of the season...played against Richo and smashed him, doing it all over the ground.

The other one was his first quarter against Collingwood - the game he got injured i think.
Kicked 2 or 3 goals in the first quarter and was spectacular, one-handed grab against Maxwell and ran down Heath Shaw. Kicking for goal was solid too.
