..this year, even in games where he had a slow start Murphy managed to work his way into the game.. ..his stats were bloody impressive, and his ability to gut run meant that over the season he played an influence in pretty much every game.. ..will set the right example on field, both game day and in training.. ..and also sets the right example off field too, both in regards to club and also media/marketing..

Andrew Carrazzo. Not our best player, but still a safe best 22 type, probably our equivalent of Andrew Welsh, in that every time he's in the media representing our club, he's a polished media performer and well spoken. Something I can't quite give to young Murph just yet.

Has had quite a good year, has Carrots, improved in a lot of areas that people haven't given him the credit for (become quite a deadly finisher around goals being the main one), and should be rewarded for this, in a year where he could quite easily have been lost in the shuffle.

Carrazzo is very highly regarded by the Coaching staff. Always polls well in our B&F (Winner 07 of Course). Best Club Man (08). Leadership Group and respected by his Peers. Gutsy and leads from the front. Improved his disposal out of site this year too. Trully dedicated!!

Works his butt off and is an inspiration to the younger boys. What better attributes for a Captain /Vice Captain!. Top contender for sure..

..Simmo can look good goin' for a run, and does try his best but at times he can drift out of a game, and he doesn't have enough of an on-field presence i reckon.... ..Murphos is my choice.. ..tough little bugger..

Gibbsy!!!

Let Gibbsy be groomed for the Captains role.

He is our future captain. Gibbs has been a leader since he has been at the clubat age 17

Simmo, Carrots, Waite, all good players, but VC should be for your next Captain after Judd and l don't see simmo, carrots or waite being around then.

If you smell what im cooking :)

Pretty chuffed that Simmo has polled so well.

Having said that, we keep talking about our youth and we are clearly building the club around Murphy, Gibbs and Kreuzer. Prior to Murphy's recruitment we kept hearing about how good his leadership qualities were.

Judd has quite a few years left in him yet, so start grooming Murphy and/or Gibbs now. Just do it.

..Gibbs in the leadership group before even playing a single game for us was an embarrassment.. ..far too young/early to be in there.. ..so i wouldn't be looking to that as any indication.. ..and personally on field leadership wise i reckon we've got a couple ahead of him..

So if Simmo's taken over from Stevens in the 'fluff-piece writing stakes', will he also take over the VC mantle?

Looks as though Simmo is fairly likely. Jamo & Carrots also a chance. I think Jamo would make a great VC & stand-in captain, would be happy for any of these 3 to get it, but Jamo in particular impresses me.

Good pick up with this article Cecil.

The thing which interested me most was the rise of Jammo in the estimations of those who matter. That he performed so well when the Leading Teams camp was undertaken is something worth noting. Is there a possibility in that considering the captaincy prospects of Murphy and Gibbs that many of us on here have overlooked Jamison completely? I'd be lying if I said that I'd considered him as a potential leader for the club. I'll keep a close eye on the leadership group this year... it will be interesting to see who makes it.

..only ?'s about Jamo would be his ability to withstand the rigours of AFL.. ..do see leader potential, part of leadership group for sure..

A couple of years ago I had zero confidence in the then medical team but things seem to have dramatically improved.
I'm confident that, apart from any accidental injury, Jamo will be fine from now on.

Anyone notice Simmo sitting next to the Coach & Captain at the Team Photo.
Me thinks the decision has been made.

And a pretty good decision too, even though I've advocated for others. Simmo is true blue.

Oh, where can one see this team photo?

Yeah, its a good decision.

Simmo's come a long way, and his actions on the field speak volumes. I also can never recall him being involved in any off field incidents, which shows that he's a good role model for our young group both on and off the park.

Good Luck Simmo :)
