Kade Simpson without a shadow of a doubt...the other boys (Murph & Gibbs) still have leadership roles within the 'junior' group...Kade is a real leader, loves the club and is due to be rewarded with the Vice-Captaincy.

I have a left field suggestion in T-Bird.

I'd have no problems with that, although I am surprised that he is a clear leader right now.

Go Kade!

The Glenelg lad in me says Bryce.

The Carlton lad in me says Kade Simpson.

Whilst Simmo's stint as acting captain in 2007 was outstanding, and brought out the best in him as a player, I can't help but feel that we've seen the best of him, and at times this year, was by no means a guaranteed starter in the 22.

This may work against him.

Andrew Carrazzo. Not our best player, but still a safe best 22 type, probably our equivalent of Andrew Welsh, in that every time he's in the media representing our club, he's a polished media performer and well spoken. Something I can't quite give to young Murph just yet.

Has had quite a good year, has Carrots, improved in a lot of areas that people haven't given him the credit for (become quite a deadly finisher around goals being the main one), and should be rewarded for this, in a year where he could quite easily have been lost in the shuffle.

With you all the way SLT. How about we get a vice captain who does the team things on and off the field. Who is reasonably smart and 100% committed. I like Kade Simpson but don't think he has the inclusive personality needed. Gibbs and Murph have a bit of a way to go I think and in a few years I would see BigK as a leader. I presume including Fev in the list was a gag.

To me they've shown the most leadership at the club.

I also agree.

Frankly does it really matter. We need a leadership lead by Judd.

We need 6 leaders, all willing to grab a guy by the scruff of the neck if he gets out of line off field, and all willing themselves to lead by example and take the game on no matter what on field.

I voted Bryce...think increased leadership responsabilities would do him the world of good and add to his self belief.

Would love to see Waite get it also.

Selected Simpson, but would like to see Waite & Simpson as joint VC's.

I think Simmo. He seemed to relish the acting-Captaincy role a year or two ago. Carrots or Waite seem like they would be good choices as well. It's kind of difficult making informed decisions from the outer - but that's why we have TC.

Potentially Gibbs could be VC, though this has a bit of the Michael Clarke grooming for Captain feel to it, rather than his natural leadership demanding the postion.

I think we need to appoint someone who will be a good fit with the current leadership. I'd think you would want someone with a different style to Juddy, not conflicting, but just brings other benefits to the group.

I know it won't happen but I think it would be beneficial for Judd to relinquish the captaincy.

Judd never wanted to be captain after Cousins at the Eagles and he stated that he felt embarrassed taking over Carlton without playing a game for the club.

There is no doubt he is the best credentialed player at our Carlton but I think Judd could be an even better player if he was able to concentrate on his own game. It would take away some of the pressure.

I just don't think anyone is ready just yet, Murph and Gibbs aren't far away but they need a bit more time.

Yep, me too. He's become the undisputed captain of the backline and his form has been good now for a number of years.

The only others who I think are possibilities are Simpson (still trying to establish consistency in his game), Waite (coming back from injury and not sure he's the type anyway) and Gibbs and Murph, who could do without it for another year or two.

Would like to see a VC that will assume Judd's captaincy once he retires ... thats why I voted Murphy ... he is young but will flourish in the role and will then be ready to assume leadership once Juddy retires.

At no point should Gibbs and Murph be selected because they are more skilled. C's and VC's show leadership through application.

Simpson's come from a loooooong way back and through the hardship of our darkest years. He's well and truly earnt his stripes. He has been very consistent over the last few years and continues to run hard for the duration of matches.

Gibbs and Murph are most definitely more talented players. They still have a way to go in earning their stripes - for mine they have a little way to go in their match day intensity.

I have no doubt one of the two will be a future captain but let them earn it over the next few seasons.

Gibba and Murph too young i woulda thought.
Still trying to establish their games and become out and out star players...dont need to burden them with the VC as well...

Bret Thornton for mine for the next few years.
