Let it be true. Media Watch anyone?

NBH, you might be right - maybe we should send an email to Media Watch..... :cool:

The Tony Jones "lost respect" award is awarded to the the years biggest hypocrite. In the event of a tie, the person who is the biggest tool will receive the award on countback

Nine's showbiz reporter sums them up for me.
Haven't watched Nine for years.

Now that Tony Jones has ripped into Carlton on the Channel 9 news about our failure to investigate the alleged incident involving Fev and a female HUN reporter at the Brownlow (even though WE have sacked Fev and THEY have not), I'm hoping another TV station will run an investigation piece about:

* the fact Fevola was working for Channel Nine on the night of the alleged incident;
* what investigations, if any, Channel Nine undertook in relation to the alleged incident;
* what action, if any, Channel Nine took against Fevola in connection with the alleged incident;
* what sanctions and/or counselling have Channel Nine ordered for Fevola as a result;
* whether there is any evidence that, directly or indirectly, Fevola was encouraged to drink excessively by Channel Nine/The Footy Show producers on Brownlow night (Wojee's earlier post is interesting in this regard...);
* what Occupational Health and Safety implications for Channel Nine are associated with allowing one of their employees (ie. Fevola) to continue working when he was clearly in no fit state to continue;
* what supervision of Fevola was being conducted by Channel Nine/The Footy Show producers on the night in question;
* whether Channel Nine has made available to the Police and Liquor Licensing authorities all recordings in its possession made of Fevola on Brownlow night; and
* whether or not Fevola is still under contract at Channel Nine.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T, Mr Jones..... :fight:

well said.

the thing that really sums them up is that they...

(allegedly but most likely) encouraged Fev to have a few and then do street talk
then when the shit hits the fan they drop him like a hot potato
BUT still show footage from thenight! That's the most unbelievable thing he was one of their team, is in the footy show prom, is a regular etc and they decide to show the footage ... which ultimately led to him being traded.

I bet if that footage wasn't out there he'd still be a Blue (not that that's necessarily a good thing).

I know what you're saying, but I doubt that's the case.

Any truth to the rumour that someone from Ch9 slipped Fevola a mickey so as to ensure Street Talk would be "hilarious"?

What did Channel 9 do in relation to the allegation? Did they investigate it? Fev was working for them that night after all. OK, he was pulled off that week's Footy Show, but they still ran some damning footage of him on the Footy Show to titillate the massess (= boost ratings)....and he remains on their books!

Ch9 approached Ch10 for a trade involving Rove and Sean Micallef and they laughed.

They then went to 7 and asked for Kochy with Meldrum thrown in as steak knives. But 7 insisted Tara Brown be traded back........9 hung up in disgust.

They finally got on the phone to SBS and had the boys from Top Gear ready to go but the fax machine was broken and they ran out of time.

Seems Ch9 are now stuck with the arse for at least another year.

I just hope Channel 9 lose the rights to the NRL then the only time I would watch it would be in summer for the Cricket. My TV tends to collect dust these days since I have disconnected pay tv. I can't remember the last time I watched the Footy Show or even their news.

Best way to protest against Channel 9 might be to watch the news program and make a list of all the companies that advertise during the show and to then boycott those products and companies.

Not a bad idea....although I can't do it because I won't be watching Channel 9 news until we win the flag.... :cool: so somebody else might have to do that :thumbsup:

Interesting that Fev's first substantive media interview since trade week was with Eddie McGuire on Triple M...

Channel Nine have no intention of delisting him....

Makes Tony Jones' report on Channel 9 news of 9 October look even more hypocritical and self-serving.

I was up in NSW the week leading into the GF and thought channel 9s coverage was incredibly biased towards the Eels. Now you would expect some leaning towards the "home team" but seriously it was a farce. I actually was rapt that the storm won and stuck it up all those ignorant NSW cauliflower.

And the bullshit about that Eels guy getting off slipping the knee in when the opponent got a tri in the Prelimanry Final was unbelievable.

it somes up commercial TV. A pack of biased, hypocritical, narrowminded,over stated wankers who have no ethics because in the end folks its about ratings and ratings mean money.

If you go to youtube and type in Fevola at the Brownlow watch the clip that goes for 1.02 minutes(sorry i dont have the knowledge to do a link)
What you will see is Fevola yelling to Dane Swann with his tie undone, his shirt tucked out holding two Crownies with the soundman, cameraman and some arsehole chasing him so he can make him look respectable for street talk.

Fevola is a flower but the whole sad episode somes up the scumbags that we call commercial TV where individuals welfare is cast aside for

you guessed it ratings and money

For the FS to show any of it was a disgrace.
I reckon Garry Lyon actually was uneasy introducing it and new it was wrong to show any of it.
As for Brayshaw mister nice guy would sell his Grandmother for the right price.just another arsehole.

Thing is its life. We just accept some things

And one of those things is that commercial TV is full of cauliflower.

I'm sure that TV stations never did that when it's a "Victorian v Interstate" Grand final in the AFL, did they?

Seriously, you Victorians have such a chip on your shoulders about the way you think you're viewed in other places, that it's becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I agree with Keogh. It's got nothing to do with being Victorian or a New South Welshman

The commentary of the NRL GF was the most bias commentary I have ever heard in a GF whether it be AFL or NRL; I have followed both codes for decades now.

And...compare the chicken wing tackle with Smith in 2008 (he missed the GF for it) and the Eels player in the prelim (he got away with it), and I would have thought the Eels offense was far more serious.

The point is that Channel 9 is hopeless with its commentary, and even the AFL footy show there's a pro Collingwood bias there because Eddie everywhere is spruiking his team along with that dingbat Jones (another Collingwood supporter).

Must admit I haven't banned channel 9 completely because at the end of the day its them or nothing; why should I miss out on the good bits (the facts).

Your off the mark. I never thought about that.
I am just saying that comercial networks are pricks. I laughed when they went the moral ground when it came to the opinions of Kyle Sandilands.
In some way he is better. At least he admits he is offensive. Ask Sterlo and co whether their comentary was biased and pathetic given rugby league is a national competition I doubt you get an honest answer.
As I said
Commercial networks = aresholes( no matter what the state)
