A Carlton team that is capable of finals but shows that it is unable to progress is a team that will have a review of it's coaching.

There might be some pain experienced in the progression to this point of realisation - but it is what has to be done to wion a flag.

If that is what happened then I can only draw the conclusion that the Adelaide players don't believe in the game plan. Someone is not getting the message through.

Someone is not getting the message through even less with us.. thats what i care about.... after all i barrack for Carlton...

why, no one is giving Ratts any time - say like 5 years to win umm how many finals has Craig won exactly?

If Craig has a swag of top 5 picks he would be killing it...

and if Ratts had a swag of blokes around 33.. he would have killed them... and us...

Losing Knights early in the game didn't help him buggered his forward structure up they started bombing it when he went off -should talk to Pagan he might of told him that doesn't work

He has a team of robots that are very good but the lack one or two flamboyant types that take these games on and win them for you

Craig needs a Steve johnson , Didak or Johno Brown in his line up - when it comes to big games you need that special edge -Apart from Birdman taking the odd hanger he has no one else who can turn a game

The stats are very bad for sides that have someone one the bench (especially before half time and a midfielder). Because of the interchange being used continuously something like 70% of teams that have have someone injured lose.

The main thing about Adelaide is that as soon as they were ahead they went into their shells. It is similar to Carlton in that we do ok at attackling whilst when we try and kill of the tempo we end up losing.

Geelong on the other hand love the pace and tempo and are always looking to attack and move the ball quickly.

Adelaide has one in the making. He won the ball twice in the dying seconds yesterday with great second and third efforts.
Patrick Dangarfield. He would go well in a Carlton jumper...
Simon Goodwin wasn't too bad either.

All I have seen so far is that he has developed a good home and away team who chokes in finals. The next time September comes around the bricks that were on his shoulders will be boulders.

People want to make excuses for him but the sports scientist had a two day advantage over his opposition on a very hot night. The week before his team did not have to get out of second gear whilst Collingwood had to play a more taxing game against StKilda (they lost 4 players). Knights did go down but everything does not go out the window because of one player.
We lost Aaron Joseph for two quarters that has to be worth 7 points?

Did anyone catch Footy Classified last monday night where Grant Thomas said how he thinks on one end of the spectrum there was a very hard and tough man in Denis Pagan and on the other Brett Ratten has gone to soft on the group to correct the balance. The comments were made when discussing how Carlton lost the game against the lions to which i thought had some credit.

This can be so subjective. Anything that involves team agreements can be perceived as being "soft". Empowering players is "where it is at" and the coaches' role is to work with the players to have them follow and carry out those agreements. If people think that is soft, go back to the 20th Century - the world has changed. Accountability and developing accountabilty proceedures (common agreements) is where the real leadership resides.

Im think what Grant Thomas was alluding to the fact that in the last quarter we didn't have the mental resolve to fight it till death to hang on and our players didn't have the mental toughness/strength to push through.

You would have to admit that the last quarter was a poor effort by our boys and somewhat soft attempt to save a final and progress to the next round.

I'd take Worsfold's three consecutive elimination losses followed by a grand final loss with a premiership any day of the week.

The feral WCE fans had hundreds of "Worsfold is not DA MAN!!" threads going in those five years. Then they all smirked and said "I TOLD YOU SO!".

Wankers. :screwy:

Why does Carlton have all the flower supporters?

You're right...I think it is because we are used to success...but it is ALL IN THE PAST!!!

We have to build a new Carlton Football Club.

This starts now.

Next year they will be hungrier and harder.

I hope Stevo and Eddie less hungry and even less thirsty too
Garlett / 206 /Hill and Simmo very hungry.
Juddy has Twiggers - will not get any harder

If he gets an extension then it will be more like a 1947 to 1968 scenario.
