I think the only impediment to a successful knee comeback nowadays is doing another ACL or trying to compensate for other damaged areas in the knee when originally doing it.

IF all Waite did was the ACL and no cartledge damage plus anything else he should be fine. Taking near on the full 12 months to get back he should be brand new.

I just hope the MC use him in a more proactive way forward of centre. He's critical to our push towards the premiership in an offensive fashion first and foremost.

As he won't return until the season is well underway, it take till the end of the year to get going again. So he will be cherry ripe to dominate in 2011, smack bang at the start of our Premiership window

i'm confident waitey will be able to return to his best (which probably would've been AA this year) but i must admit i wonder if in his case it will be similar to some of the other players such as goddard, bradshaw and hayes who have had recos and come back just as good if not better only because waite relies on his athleticisim and especialy his vertical leap much more than any of those players. which is why i was one of the few carlton supporters who actually enjoyed watching the birdman take that mark a few weeks ago. :smoking:

Does anyone know how his rehab is going? Will he be right for rd 1 or would it be mid-season?

He'll be back after 10 months at worst unless he has major issues during rehab.

Strange assumption. I was on level 2 among thousands of Carlton supporters, and everyone seemed to go up in one motion to acknowledge the mark.

Not only that, they replayed it a few times and all the Carlton people clapped and cheered again and again.

I thought it was great sportsmanship. I love watching Birdman!!

With Fev gone, a fit Waite is now more crucial than ever.

True, just don't expect him to play forward before 2011.

No reason why he shouldn't come back as fit as before .

Might take him a few weeks into the season though . He won't get a full pre-season . Should be 100% by May-June .

I think we shouldn't hope for his best next year. Whilst a lot of recos come back, many of them don't get the full confidence until the second year, even though they are physically OK.

BTW, Dean Rice had TWO recos and was more than handy afterwards.

I, on the other hand have had two total joint replacements and can't run at all. The specialist said I would't be able to ski or play tennis after the op but that was OK. I couldn't do either beforehand.

WOW, thanks for the tip Sombrero. I have 2 dodgy knees, one with Arthritis and the other had an ACL reco (just like Waite) 10 years ago. Knee replacements are a distinct possibility somewhere in my future. Problem is that i love my skiing and was hoping to do some travelling/skiing later in life. Hopefully those stem cell research nerds can make a few breakthroughs in the next 20 years so that my body can re-grow new knees!!

I heard he had put on a bit of weight while he was not running

I'm sure he will lose that and be fit and firing for 2010
