I'm confused as to how anyone got "we did nothing" out of that. There's nothing more we can do? Sure. But when you mention the AFL, and infer the police are investigating, what are you supposed to do? Re-fit the footy club into a detective agency?

I'm also confused how it's damning for two figure heads of a football club to know exactly what happened when none of the people directly involved are saying anything.

See this is the problem, Tony Jones and a few other media personalities have walked around spouting nonsense with a condescending tone, and you take a little rambling as a confession. Maybe listen to the words a few times through please children.

What a day...

People of the footy world this is the best represetation of this situation. Well done Jimmae. Thanks for being level headed.

..i thought it was pure genius by the club.... ..we knew the journo's were itchin' to ask about the fevastinko allegations.. ..so the best thing to do is put Sticks up front, with no prepping.... ..he'd stumble his way through the press conference, and any incompetence is attributed to sticks.. ..everyone knows what he's like, no-one expects much out of him.. ..if it was Swann, he'd need hours of lawyered up prepwork cos his every word would be analysed.. ..instead, we're more talking about how crap sticks was, instead of if carlton hands are 'dirty'.. ..it's great..

Kernahan oversaw a big week for the blues. We come out of it very well except for the last interview.
I can forgive him for that. Pratt was never any good with the media but seemed to do ok. Pratt probably wouldnt have fronted that one. SHould have been done by Swann but whatever.... cant hang a bloke for that.

When someone better puts their hand up he will step aside

Good job over the last few weeks by all at the club.

 Seriously though... you might actually be onto something there. Greg Swann: "Uh Sticks... I reckon you should take this one, mate."

He will continue to hound us with his bumbling.

Anyone is better... but they wont put their hand up whilst Sticks is there...

That was just another chapter of King Sticks "Everything he touches turns to shit"....

He is an amazingly incompetent person... :yikes:

Synners who will vote Sticks in again when that time comes? Is it the members or the board?

Each time there is a vote Sticks will be voted on.

And the board would keep Sticks cos hes dumb and hes a front for others....

But while he remains he missmanages the place... with his presence.

I think the club did as best they could with this situation. Everything worked out as best it could after one of your players stuffs in the manner that fev stuffed up. I am proud of the club and those we have running it at the moment.

I wonder how it would have went down under some of our other leaders in the last decade.

Agree Sticks was shithouse. But it was his job as PresidentNot Swann,Icke,or Ratts. to front the media on such a serious matter.
He was nervous and new he was going to get shredded by the media. But i say good on you Sticks for not shircking your duty as President. It would have been easy for Sticks to skunk around and let Swann do the dirty work.We can call him lots of things, but he aint a squib,so well done for putting your head on the chopping block. In fact if he remains President i want him to front the media more often. The more he does, the better he will get.He will never get a tougher gig than this arvos effort.

I don't often agree with you Mick, but I do here to a point.

It was the Prez's job today...unfortunately Sticks is not a guy to face the media under extreme pressure.

Today was extraordinary, and it would have taken an extreme media professional to handle it.

Unfortunatley, I don't want Eddie mcGuire to front our club.

We dont agree, but we always remain civil Mrs Caz.....................

I was very proud of Sticks today. He new he was going to get his head kicked in .He was obviously petrified but took his medicine like a man....................how easy to skunk around the outside of the pack and leave it to Swann.
I actually hope this is a turning point for Sticks. He is obviouslyaware of his shortcomings and now must do some intensive media training.Remember when Sticks first came over from SA Mrs Caz.He was very ordinary for a while. He realised it,worked on it,and became a star.Reckon if he applies himself to being a President like he did to his footy,he can turn it all around. He just needs to work at it and not expect it to just happen.

At first glance a good suggestion..... but the comeback could have been bad
Something like.....Fevola was pissed when he was working for us, and that was a mistake....but he had already finished working for us when the alleged assault occurred.....at that stage he was just a Carlton rep at the after party.

We needed to sneak away from this as quietly as we could, not take on the media with counter accusations.

What was disgraceful was Tony Jones finishing his report with "the lions the winner out of all of this and Carlton are the losers, they've lost respect" in reference to Sticks saying they knew of the alleged incident but didn't do anything about it.

The parallels are what, exactly?

A thread about Sticks getting rid of Fev so he keeps his goal kicking record?

vs

A thread about Sticks' handling of a press conference about the Brendan Fevola trade.

Outside the people involved, I see no similarities. PM one of us if you want it explained further.

Surprised Tony Jones could get the words out with his mouth full anyway.

Granted Sticks wasn't terribly eloquent, but it wouldn't have mattered what he said anyway. Tony Jones already made his mind up, and was there to push his agenda and nothing more.

He just continually repeated the same question over and over because Sticks wasn't saying what he wanted to hear. If we're going to bag someone for lacking professionalism and decorum, then we should be pointing the finger at Tony. He already had his story written in his head before the presser began, and when he couldn't get the quotes he wanted he started badgering Sticks. The end result was two frustrated people failing to communicate.

No, it wasn't a terribly productive or positive presser - but Sticks isn't entirely to blame.

I can't comment on the rest of his presidency as I'm not terribly well informed on that side of things, but I wouldn't be having him drawn and quartered over this particular effort.
