He has a contract for around $400,000 next year, why would he retire and forgo this? There has to be an agreement with the club for a payout and this has not been done yet.

sit on the LTI then and collect, he wasn't banking on receiving a $400,000 lumpsum right now was he

True, but the injury was caused by playing football and he shouldnt suffer financially.

I was referring to his pay out Doc, which he clearly needs to sort out.

Hopefully the Carlton can work out a good deal with the AFL that helps Stevens, and doesn't just put all of the money in the salary cap.

The AFL and AFLPA really need to set up a policy in place so that this kind of thing can be smoother, and easier for all involved. Having to have an ad hoc approach to this isn't good enough. Clubs should know what will happen and not have to fight for it, and players shouldn't have to be worrying about the cash when other major issues are present (the injury).

Very poor form by Malthouse.

If you don't like saying it then don't say it you fool. What a cauliflower.

Totally agree. Malthouse is dancing on Nick Stevens' injury grave. Incredibly tasteless, not to mention fool's logic.

There are a few of his friends trying to get Nick to play in a local league. I would hope if Carlton were to pay out his contract a new contract will say that he can't play football at any level again. How can one say football is too dangerous and he can't play any longer and then walk away with cash and play football again (for a different team or league). Nick probably doesn't want to play but the club should protect itself before releasing him and paying him a substantial amount.

Doubt he'll be playing football anywhere to be honest. Cricket however I hear is high on the agenda for this season.

He is being positively Collingwood....Totally [REDACTED]....

I don't like saying this Mick but if you and your team keep overestimating your list of triers you'll never get anywhere you'll always be FAIL.

i feel the same way... how they keep performing well baffels me. there arent many players on their list who i rate at all... id be happy to have a pendelbery, nathan brown and MAYBE dayne beams... the rest can @#$%&! off.

Steele sidebottom is daisy mark II. fail.

Im just glad they havent snatched a flag from the last few years, massive over performers.

(unfortunately, as much as i hate Mick, you have to put it down to good coaching)

Agreed.

It's his insistance on falling in love with all his players that prevents the club from true success.....he and the staff all just carry on as if they are fans which makes them incapable of making objective decisions..
