He's in the TOP TEN at Carlton.

The ten best players for the year!!

It's gotta be hurting!

It does.. considering he played 4 good games...

and was dropped for 3 games...

Great stories like Russell...hated by Carlton "fans"...through hard work, skill and determination he proves "them" wrong. A legend begins.

Experts end up chumps.

The chump ends up in the top ten players for the year.

DELICIOUS!

There is a strong correlation between Carlton's winning streak in the 2nd half of the season and games Russell scored votes in.

As he got better and better so did the team.

No doubt Russell improved exponentially in the 2nd half of the season. Well I thought he did,
HB seemed to be his position for the stage of development he's at. That isn't a problem, that is a bonus.

Congrats Chris Judd on an excellent season!

I must say though I'm struggling to comprehend how Russell made the top 10 let alone come 6th. Was absolutely abysmal against the bombers and crows. At best he is about our 15th best player, AT BEST.. no slur on the guy but geez theres nothing special about his football. Credit where it's due, he has improved but I'd say 4 or 5 good games of football doesn't warrant a top 6 in the B&F! I can see why he's a regular senior player now though I believe he has improved to that level..

But I think the 4 guys below him in the top 10 would be stumped by that poll!

I'm not stumped at all. In fact even Synbad wasn't stumped!! Or at least he didn't say he was!! If you can't see how good a player Russell is then I feel sorry for you because he truly is a joy to watch!! I'm tipping you are an anti-JR that's struggling to come to grips with the fact that you could get it so wrong. Perhaps your confidence has been knocked around a little? It's understandable. You're not alone!! Then again maybe you are STILL trying to convince yourself that you have it right and the MC and majority of Carlton fans have got it wrong. I guess it all comes down to your ego and how much of a hit you're prepared to let it take. Just ease yourself into it, a little bit of acceptance here and there goes a long way.....before you know it it'll be February and you'll be on the JR bandwagon!!

B&F votes will pick up players given a job and doing it well. It wont be the showy type players who get Brownlow votes. Perhaps this is reflected here.

Yes he was destroyed by Chris Knights against the Crows, but Knights did that to a few players.

Scotland misssed out for the first time since he came to Carlton - 5 years in the top 10.

Bower, Joseph, Russell - first time in.

Don't know if this has been covered by others, but I was pretty disappointed in Ratt's speach. I thought it was too little too late from a coach who's been babying this guy for 3 years. The buck stops with the head man and the head man is Ratten. The bomb eplodes in our faces after we take the gently gently approach to the flawed genius and we spin it by saying 'this won't be accepted' :banghead: .

He pinched Lyons bit about coming along or getting out.... and ..'do it the Carlton way' .

Well done to Juddy, the reason we made the finals along with Murph, Gibbs and Kreuzer. Apart from those 4 players, we need to stop kidding ourselves, get a real president and coach and become professional.

Not looking at the whole picture here. As each/any player gets better so does the team.

You could say the exactly the same thing re Hoops who started polling well when moved away from the fwd line to a HBF, and ended up missing the top 10 by 1 vote.

Really, really, really happy with Russell's 6th placing. Brilliant effort. Improving young player who went from strength to strength in 2009. Blues skies ahead in 2010.
