If the club grows some gonads and trades Fev, the supporters will get over it.

Not only will the supporters get over it, but the administration will gain most supporters' respect for its gonads.

I'll be done with the club if they get rid of him for being the life of the party at the Brownlow. Not like he he was too pissed to get out of bed to get to training on the eve of the finals.

Thanks for that, kots. Good to get reports for those of us who couldn't make it.

I wonder, exactly, what "the carlton way" is? Did Ratten elaborate on that?

No mention of what exactly the 'Carlton Way' is but it looked like the coach and club were trying to get a point across to the players. It's our way - or the highway! Either way it was good to see th coach/club make a stance and publicly state that.
As for Fev - time will tell. But my inclination is that the vast majority of those in attendance were in favor of him staying. And whilst Sticks did seem quite stern - the grin on his face when discussing Fev spoke volumes for me! He stuffed up and he needs to be reprimanded. But he is the most loved bloke at the club and trading away a matchwinner would be risky stuff indeed!!

If that's true kots, your first 2 sentences completely contradict your last.

Exactly! You listening to yourself kots?

That'll be mildly disappointing for 30 seconds.

Yeah well it will $2200 less in the coffers each year. I've waited too long for us to get back in the 8 and if they f$^% up our premiership chances next year because they're more worried about our corporate image than winning a premiership then the club is no longer for me.

Or maybe... Fev has burnt his bridges with his teammates, and if he stays - the team ethic will be too compromised for this group to ever win a flag.

I don't think the club would consider ditching a quality player just because of a media backlash. Whatever any of us believe should happen, I would imagine the board and the football department would act with one goal in mind: to build the kind of club and team that is capable of sustained success, ultimately winning at least one Premiership together.

I really don't understand this argument that we can't win a premiership without a gun full-forward who dominates our F50. Especially if that gun full-forward can't or won't adhere to team strictures.

If we lose a finals match due to the lack of forwards i.e Bulldogs & Collingwood did this year; I will blame the board and will not renew my membership ever.

I don't care about Fev, I want a power forward that will kick goals and win games.

StKilda lost it with TWO forwards.
Geelong won it with NONE....

If we don't have Fev, then our gameplan will be adjusted accordingly and may well be a blessing in disguise. For the last couple of years, I keep hearing and reading that we're too Fevola conscious and that it takes him to fire for us to win games.

Aside from the fact that the last point is bollocks, if the first point is true, then perhaps it's the catalyst for imaginative strategic thinking.

In my lifetime Carlton have won 8 flags. Only once, Jezza in 1970, did we have what could be called
a dominant full forward.

It ain't mission impossible, after all it is a team game.

I think Carlton and Fev have to take a look at the Steve Johnson model - great talent who stuffed up multiple times - and it took an awakening for significant change to happen - and change did happen and Johnson is now a dual premiership player, and one of the stars of the game.

Having Fev at Carlton is much much better that what we will get in any trade - there are not many in the comp of his talent - and none with his talent that we would recieve in a trade. So if we can harness the talent and remove the errors - we are much better off retaining him. He has used up his last 'life' - and if this doesnt wake him up nothing will (not that I believe he has done anything dramatically wrong - no one has been assaulted or physically injured by his antics - he just had a bit too much fun - but this time thats enough of an error).

People who say Carlton cannot win a premiership with Fev in the team just need to look at Geelong and Steve Johnson - retain Fev, but enforce change!!!!

Sticks kicked 5 goals in 1995 GF

Bulldogs & Filth lost finals matches due to their lack of options in the forward line.

You will be doing it tough to win finals mathes without a key forward.

We lose one finals match due to the lack of options in the forward line, the Carlton board can kiss my ass.

The Bulldogs lost a belter of a game because they didn't kick straight.

Collingwood lost because they were shit.

In Waite and Kreuzer, we have two tall forward targets with more talent than any of the bulldogs "tall forwards"

On Steve Johnson, has been mentioned lately that he got suspended for 6 weeks and hasnt looked back. Well that is not exactly true, after the suspension he was caught hoon driving. On field he has done nothing wrong, but neither has Fev in the last 2 years.

1972 GF was exciting.

Jezza
Nichols
Walls

IIRC 6, 6 and 7 goals.

I know I'm living in the 70's, but it did happen and I am still very grateful it did.

No doubt whatsoever that POWER Forwards are important...if you can get them.
Yeah, there's more ways than one to skin a cat.

Didn't Geelong lose a grand final even though GAblett Sr kicked 9 goals?
