Not sure they will have much effect on Swanny and/or Ratts. They will do what they think is best for the Club.

Not on the back of a drunk tirade though, albeit I, and many others, dont have the full details. But on what I know and have seen, definitely dont get rid of him.
Punish him yes, trade him no.
At the end, we are all hoping for these intangible benefits that may or may not occur. I know what tangible benefits Fev is going to give our team on the field.

I hope one day I can have some inside scoops and know the atrocities he committed that fateful Brownlow night...

There are other approaches to dealing with Fev that don’t include ejecting such a critical footballer to a clubs hopes. We don’t have to all follow the jungle drums Synbad and burn him at the stake. That is the easy way out

I beg to differ.

The easy option for the club would be to KEEP fev. The more difficult option, would be to cut our losses and do what is in the long term interests of the club.

A few of us have advocated the trading of Fev as far back as 2002 due to his attitude and various misdemeanours. In the time since, he has continued to display unacceptable behaviour for a professional footballer and has required chastising and disciplining by the club on numerous occassions. If burning fev at the stake was the easy option, surely Fev would be long gone from the club by now.

The following players have been advocated for trade on TC:

Fevola
Stevens
Scotland
Thornton
Russell
Houlihan
Jacobs
Bower
Grigg
Walker
Carrazzo
Cloke
Bentick
Armfield
Browne
Fisher

Just as a start.

Elite company.

This will be in the HUN tomorrow. Who wants Brendan Fevola? - he will be shopped around, make no mistake.

And this is where I disagree with you Marci. Because while it is right that there are general standards of behaviour (and preparation and attitudes etc) for the general community, we are not talking here about the general community. We are talking about an elite part of the community, in terms of performance. And just as those who reach the elite of business, music, film etc do so with a higher level of performance than the general community, you will find that they also have an accompanying higher level of preparation and discipline than the general community (it is a generalisation of course, there are some people in the general community who apply themselves enormously, but don't have the ability or talent. But we all know stories of talented individuals / teams which didn't achieve what they could have achieved, because they did not apply themselves in the manner required).

Honestly, opinions get posted like this and call people who say that everyone should just let him play footy naive?

It is patently ridiculous to suggest that a footballer needs to conform to higher general standards of behaviour because he is an elite footballer. A cogent, reasoned argument could be mounted but perhaps a few examples from the domains you mention as proof of your argument would suffice...

Politics - Clinton, JFK, Martin Luther King
Art/Literature- Van Gogh, F Scott Fitzgerald, Hemingway
Music (did you write that with a straight face?) - Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, Gallagher brothers
Sport (in general) - Mike Tyson, OJ Simpson, Bobby Fisher
AFL - Ben Cousins, Leigh Matthews, Wayne Carey

The list is endless. What about M Hurley? He'll be shown the door, will he?

Channel 9 were furious (why else did the cameras keep rolling) and they've worked hard to trash Fev. Fall for it if you will but don't concoct fanciful reasons for doing so.

Given his history, the drunk tirade would be sufficient for me to trade Fev - then again, I've always had a lower tolerance for flower than many of you seem to do.

I can almost taste the tears after reading that article.

The hysteria is going to be unprecedented on TC.

Personal attacks will be flying around like crazy.

If someone is so confident of what happened, and knows precisely what went down, why not just say it?

If everyone has declared and decreed that's what he did... What's the harm in saying it? Something is not innuendo and speculation if it did happen, y'know.

No-one else has had a chance to hone their skills at FF.
We might be surprised who steps up.
I see Judd as a Jesaulenko type who could be capable of kicking 100 goals straight off if the coach put him into that role.
That's why I rate Jezza way ahead of Fevola. Plus he was a far better team player.
Whether the coach does that is a different matter, but there are hints Judd might spend some time at FF.
Gazza was at FF for a short while in the GF and look who won.
The coaches have been working on Judd's overhead marking.

The world is made up of many self righteous people (many who post on this site Synbad) who have done no wrong in their lives. These people are usually the ones who themselves seek second and third chances when they flower up.

Fev is always used as a scape goat and is rarely lauded for the massive amounts of charity work he does or the generosity he shows to kids and fans, not to mention the millions he has earned the CFC through the marketing of his image.

It should be said that channel 9 are a bunch of flowers who showed no mercy what so ever with their selective film clip on the Footy show last week, (I wonder if they would have shown it if it was Alan Didak?).

Fev has had a wonderful season and career. and is by far the most irreplaceable player on our list. Unlike some other superstars of the competition who have 2 strikes against their names for failed drug tests, have saddled up with convicted murderers and have been charged with sexual assaults, Fev has never done anything that even comes close to this. In fact a recent retiree was seen being given a standing ovation as he journeyed around the MCG on grand final day, in the back of a car, having been involved in a hush money scenario some years ago....... what a bunch of hypocrites !!

Great clubs support their champions not isolate them and they have a responsibility to help rehabilitate Fev not trade him. Even greats like John Nicholls don't have a clean slate when you look back in history. I hope the captain is being supportive, like he was with Cousins, Kerr and Fletcher in Perth.

The fact is that most clubs would love to have Fev but are unable to fit his salary in their salary cap otherwise they would do it in a heartbeat. Ask Eddie if he would take him at Collingwood or Rodney Eade or Paul Roos.

A flower who called 3AW suggested we should take the lead from the Saints many years ago when they traded Barry Hall and the Pies who traded Chris Tarrant......... Surprise surprise they haven't won a flag !!

Time to cut him some slack and get behind him because without him the Carlton Football will be the poorer and we can forget our premiership window being in the next 2-3 years because it won't happen. As good as kreuzer and Waite are they will be much more dangerous as 2nd and 3rd forwards not having to worry about negotiating contests with Scarlett, Glass and Rutten.

I'm sure that the talk to trade Fev is a positioning excercise and will never eventuate.

I just hope the posters on this site show their true colours and support the bloke that has given them their greatest highlights and has won more games for us than any other player, in an otherwise dismal 7 years.
