So Synbad, if he club has voted officially but dont want to broadcast it to the other 15 clubs....If you are aware and are able to post it on here, what makes you think that this (if it were true) is a secret that is to be kept from the rest of the AFL fraternity?...not sure the world works like that mate. Or am I missing something?

fevola will not be traded. because there is no suitable trade for us. no one will give us close to what he's worth, we'd be worse off. its that simple, whats not in question is that he needs a major attitude adjustment

Nice speech ... but its a naive speech

Give the guy a break???

How many?

Youd think he would know better.... and what he did was a zillion times worse... for the upteenth time...

Hit. Nail. Head.

Fact is, none of the names luked15 mentioned in the original post were trying to ply their trade in the media. You mess with the bull, you get the horns.... Fev wanted the joker role that Crawf plays, but failed to disseminate those laughing with him and those laughing at him. Right about now, I reckon he might have an idea... As I mentioned in another post in another thread, Fev was out of his depth intellectually on The Footy Show.

What to do with him? Who cares.... but 130 shots on goal is not easy to replace. He's out the door if a balanced deal comes along. Not so sure if we'd get much recompense from any club that wouold take on his entire $750k salary.

Probably best to keep him and try to prise the 'winidow' open ahead of schedule. Keep the big Setant and throw something extra at the Dogs for Everitt. Between Setanta, Kreuzer, Hampson, Waite, Wiggins, Austin and possibly Everitt, I think the club could fiind the balance to get by while waiting for the next big forward. Who knows, playing as a plodder out of the square could be the role Wiggins has been waiting for...

I don’t expect footballers to live by a different set of laws and standards compared to others in society but others do.

And this is where I disagree with you Marci. Because while it is right that there are general standards of behaviour (and preparation and attitudes etc) for the general community, we are not talking here about the general community. We are talking about an elite part of the community, in terms of performance. And just as those who reach the elite of business, music, film etc do so with a higher level of performance than the general community, you will find that they also have an accompanying higher level of preparation and discipline than the general community (it is a generalisation of course, there are some people in the general community who apply themselves enormously, but don't have the ability or talent. But we all know stories of talented individuals / teams which didn't achieve what they could have achieved, because they did not apply themselves in the manner required).

We are not talking about a player or team which is aiming to be like the rest of the community. We are talking about a player and a team that is striving to be the best in Australia. What elevates a person or team to be the best in the land is to do EVERYTHING better than everyone else.

And that means working for each other, being selfless. Fevola's behaviour shows him to be selfish, ego-centric...he puts himself before others too often. This translates to performance on the field, it is the reason why he sulks, gives away 50m penalties, and stops chasing. Because he can't put the good of the team before himself, when the pressure is on.

Fevola getting drunk and making a fool of himself is, on the surface, no big deal. But it is symptomatic of an attitude that he has that is affecting his performance on the field, and therefore the team's performance on the field. It is also pissing off a lot of people at the Club. And when a the people at a club are not happy, optimal performance is nigh on impossible.

And if the Club then allows this to continue, all it demonstrates is that it doesn't have the strength to deal with the tough issues, and that it is unable to provide the leadership necessary to create a culture where every person sacrifices their own personal agendas for the bigger agenda of the Club. And when that is the case, success is impossible.

My 8yo son (who used to love fev & still does, but not as much as he used to) summed it up perfectly . When i asked him should we trade Fev, his response was "Depends on what we can trade him for..." Trade week, bring it on!

There are other approaches to dealing with Fev that don’t include ejecting such a critical footballer to a clubs hopes. We don’t have to all follow the jungle drums Synbad and burn him at the stake. That is the easy way out

I beg to differ.

The easy option for the club would be to KEEP fev. The more difficult option, would be to cut our losses and do what is in the long term interests of the club.

A few of us have advocated the trading of Fev as far back as 2002 due to his attitude and various misdemeanours. In the time since, he has continued to display unacceptable behaviour for a professional footballer and has required chastising and disciplining by the club on numerous occassions. If burning fev at the stake was the easy option, surely Fev would be long gone from the club by now.

Plenty of supporters at tonight B&F trying to sway the jury. Every time Fev was mentioned or appeared on screen his choir of groupies screamed the roof down

Not sure they will have much effect on Swanny and/or Ratts. They will do what they think is best for the Club.
