I know something have to be done, but I think it’s madness to even think to getting rid of Fevola, I bet you all the other 15 Clubs will be after him if we got rid of him and I’m sure other Clubs wont offer much for him under the present situation.
Here we finally got a big chance of winning a premiership at last and we go and rune it if we get rid of him, we haven’t got hardly top forwards now as it is and even think of getting rid off one of the best Forwards in the game it’s total madness.

We ruined it?

Extraordinary comment.

The problem is not that 15 clubs would chase him. It is more like only 1 or 2 might. Sydney would be keen, but stated it won't trade it's first round pick. That might be bluff, but if the Blues decide that Fev is to go and no one else shows interest, we will not get much for him.

If the club decides that he has to go - the blame lies squarely on Brendan's Shoulders. It is his behaviour that is in question here - not the club's.

Like many others I will be devastated to loose a player of his ability , but to say the club has ruined our premiership chances is total nonsense.

Interesting that Barrett has listed out a string of allegations against Fev. Some of which we already knew about, some we have only had hinted, and, at this stage, still don't have any proof. That said, it's a an ugly list and, on the surface, could be much worse than just a bloke getting pissed and making an arse of himself:

From Damian Barrett's article wrote:
...His actions on the night included sexual harassment of a young woman, a TV-recorded profanity-riddled spray on Judd, the deliberate smashing of a glass against a bar, and at least one ugly personal attack on a highly regarded senior player from another club...

In regards to being madness to consider trading/sacking Fev. From a pure playing point of view, that's a fair comment. But his actions represent much more than that. It's about setting appropriate standards and it's about the club having strong credibility. All players, all club officials and all supporters need to know what the club is and isn't willing to accept. This is a big day for the Carlton footy club, and a stern test of those leading the club.

Well, I tend to agree to an extent DUC. Had we had the testies to ban him for games for on-field behaviour and off field behaviour at any time in the past 10 years, we would probably be enjoying a much better behaved full forward.

We as a club let Fev dictate terms of his last contract :screwy: - that is most of the reason we find ourselves in this situation. From the Prez to the CEO to the coach - We have pampered this goose since the day he strutted into the place.

So yes, we're to blame for the position we find ourselves in, Fev's to blame for his life and his future.

I have to agree. He has to go - we must set rules and enforce discipline or we will lose control of more players. Rules are for the whole club. I am amazed we took the dismissal clause out of his new contract - that is too big a risk and it is now a reality.

Move him on earn back respect.

Will be very interesting to see which way it goes today. A defining moment in the history of our great club. I'll be attending the B&F tonight so it will be interesting to see if Fev survives whether or not he will be there and also whether or not the club will make him address the fans on stage.
I have a feeling this decision is a lot more borderline then we may think! Most Carlton fans are assuming that he will survive and I for one do too - but Sticks and co. seem very keen to make a big statement here so it may not be as clear cut as we may think.
I would expect him to survive (only just). I wouldnt be at all surprised if the club impose a 2-4 match ban on him, considerably increase his fine, order him to take alcohol councelling and perhaps even include an additional clause in his contract which states that he is to completely stay off the grog and if he is seen abusing this then he's cotract is to be torn up!
We'll see....

I am not defending Brendans behaviour in any way.

I have learnt that he may have been on some painkillers since his shoulder op. Mix painkillers and alcohol and you have a major problem as the effect of the alcohol is magnified by the painkillers.

That said Brendan needs to address his public behaviour and that can only be done by him giving up the grog.

To quote Max Hugdton "The club is bigger than the individual".
Football is littered with selfish but talented individuals who have comprimised team values. Fev biggest crime was to ignore the advice of people he should respect on the night.
Off with his head today and move on.

Imagine Fevola getting up on stage to give a speech! Do you think it would be a straight down the line speech like Howard or Rudd, or a more enigmatic Keating/Obama style?

Definitely not your style woof. You're intelligence, large vocabulary and witty approach coupled with your always cheery demeanour would be a tad too much for Fevola.

Whilst I agree that we should have been tougher on Fev in the past , he is still soley responsible for his behaviour on the night and the fault is entirely his for instigating what ever action the club decides to apply. FFS he is 28 years old not a 15 year old kid.

Shopping him around and getting no takers might not be a bad thing. Fev might come to appreciate what he’s got.

If the club do trade or sack him, they should come out and tell us what he did. Might quiten down a few around here.

I know you aren't defending his behaviour. However, a qualifying question re the pain killer rationale. How many other players would have been at the brownlow recuperating from a post season op?

A decision cant be made today ie we sack him = dilute our negotiating position and need to cover his salary in the cap regardless.

Today, I would run him over the coals and put in place restrictions etc. Regardless, we would should only be entertaining an 'all time' best deal for him in trade week. If something outstanding can be negotiated, then trade him. If not, continue to ride him very very hard. Surely, a public dressing down from his captain will be stinging him into some sort of positive action.

Banned for a game after the Freo game, when he took off his boots.
