It's a good point 7dom...their are quite a few villains in this scenario.

Individual
Mates
Colleagues
Management
Venue
media

They all have a part to play in this story.

But the bottom line is the behaviour should not be acceptable, and it staggers me how many people are happy to accept it.

shame that someone didn't give him a quick snap to the head, only thing he would have understood

Of course you are perfectly correct Mrs Caz and i also find the apologist attitude quite appalling.

The sad part is the complete reluctance by some to accept that in this day and age that boorish, obscene, drunken etc behaviour in a public forum/venue is just not good enough.

I may be accused of being from a different age but what i have learnt that if one is to survive and co-exist in todays environment that a very basic premise should be an acceptance of knowing what is right and wrong.

Brendan as a paid media performer has to be aware of his responsiblities.

The fact is, that on the night he was representing the Carlton Footbal Club . Nothing that i saw when watching the event could excuse the fact that when the camera's were on the Carlton table during each round of voting, that we had an out of control buffoon who was hell bent on destroying himself!

Many of us have known this since grade 3.

Fev is a boneheaded moron who happens to have sublime football talent. He is not a great footballer, but a superbly talented one, who can win us games with freakish acts and then lose us games through being disinterested, through arguing with the umpire when the ball is in play 5 m away etc. He is also a serial embarrassment off field. He is not anonymous so the old excuse of him just being one of the boys doesn't really wash. He is the one of the boys earning $600k a year. Let's hope he gives the money to his missus, otherwise when he will be fat, broke and 40 in a decade. If you earn that dough it is about more than talent it is about the good name of the club, sponsors, accepting responsibility on and off the field.

It is the same dilemma various clubs have had in the compromise between talent and behaviour/maturity/team rules etc. I see where you are coming from Mrs C but I think there is one villain - stupid Brendan and if I was a team mate I would be getting very sick of him. And instead of Crown being blamed for serving him too much grog, how about he decides he is going to be sensible instead of stupid. How many times has Fev been faced with that decision and how many times has he chosen right.

Good Fev is a wonderful matchwinner and an endearing guy, but clearly he will never learn and will always be possibly the most immature player to ever grace the field. He was good in our final, but the previous week he had been stopping to argue when the ball was live or acting for frees. If he played like he did ag the Lions he would be a champion, but he is not, he is a supremely talented player who could be a champion if he chose. When Ratts spoke about him after the Lions game it was as though he was talking about a maladjusted 12 year old who needed to be ridiculously over praised or might otherwise sulk. Because until recently our leadership was so poor he has been able to get away with too much that wouldn't be tolerated at other clubs. At the very least he couldn't possibly be included in the leadership group next year. Do we really want our leaders set a Fev like example.

It is just a pity that Fev is so stupid and immature that he can't take responsibility for his behaviour to modify it and that he doesn't have sufficient respect for the club to become the champion he could be. I remember Stevens saying that they had decided that tolerating his sulks was now their method as otherwise if he was berated he was likely to get more sulky (that was after the Dogs game in 08 when Fev was terrible in the first half and brilliant for a qtr and a bit). He needs more of his team mates and coaches to tell him when he is a fool and to ostracise him when he doesn't do the team thing on or off the field, instead of indulging him.

Yeah that was made out to be much worse than it actually was. The pressure point thing was just stupid & repetitive more
annoying than anything else, and Juddy looked like he was indulging him out of good manners. I think Fev would be mortified
watching that tonight & they showed the good bits
About what you'd see at the local pub/clubs most weekends.......only it was on national television
