It's pretty embarrassing for Swanny and the club when comments like that re-appear.

yes...it most certainly is.

the "it's everywhere, it's too hard to fix it' attitude amongst some in the public is amazing.

Slow news day? No reports to the police of harassment? Guess we'll have to wait for the footy show to do a number on him.

I love how Crown can't offer a comment on the responsible service of alchohol that night.

I love the employee of Crown who stated that Fev wasn't on his own in being drunk.

I love how the AFL have failed to act based on their recently new behavioural code of conduct.

I love how we have no conditions in his contract.

Most of all I love how real news gets pushed to the middle pages.

So Swanny's been overruled, not for the first time. By who?
Soft as butter!
There's always a few bogans who try to justify "letting your hair down" and demanding that it be on national TV and "being a big kid".
But there's a danger that many Carlton supporters, especially with young families, may already be cooling their support for our club that will be dominated by the Fevola persona for years to come.
We might also be in danger of losing some of our first class administrators.

As it was an Official AFL Function; I think the AFL would have every right to ban him from the Brownlow in future.

Now.....THAT would really hurt.

I was really crapped off to see Chris Judd getting monstered for a comment on Fevola by reporters on the news tonight.

He was innocently signing T shirts for kids this afternoon; and Judd replied to the reporters "I made a stupid comment to a reporter a couple of weeks ago"......"so.....no comment".

So...Fev.....it's another Carlton backlash we didn't need.

See too in today's Age that Jack Elliott has lost his Lifetime AFL Membership Grand Final Tickets and Pre Lunch; which he's enjoyed since 1998......apparently due to to his controversial comment about Carlton allegedly paying off women who claimed they were raped by Carlton players after the 1999 GF.

yeah really well said. He has probably cost the club 5000 memberships and turned 100s of families away from the football forever.

what a Crock...

His behaviour is embarrassing, but fair dinkum there is a hell of a lot of unproven malicious bullshit being sprouted about what did and didn't happen. the gossip columnists are in in their element and every man and his dog is looking to make themselves feel good about themselves by joining in the crucifixion. The @#$%&! hysterical bullshit littering this thread is unbelievable. Fair dinkum there are a hell of a lot more important issues in the world than some moron making a flower of himself at crown casino.

You know what will cost 5000 memberships... probably more come to think of it.

Trade Fevola at your own peril. He has brought this shit on himself but he draws a lot more people to the blues than he turns away. The moral majority can make themselves feel as great as they want by condemning him. I couldn't care less. They can all get stuffed

This might have some more legs yet because he is set to be told to front the board and explain himself. Certain directors are very, very peed off and not satisfied with the punishment.

Not that he'll get the sack or anything ...

I'm certainly not saying we should trade Fevola.....what I am saying is that he has brought more bad publicity to the CFC that we didn't need.

First we had Elliott's debacle.....then Judd's "Eye-Gate" incident......and now Fevola....yet again.....a serial offender.

I like characters in the game. Always loved Aker and have always loved fev. Unfortunately those characters also have personalities that cause a stir off the field. I can live with that.

The media could follow any player around with a phone camera and would be able to find a story somewhere. Herald sun will be first to put it up as a small story. Then threads will start on fansites as fun little threads before some start taking it serious. THen the thread will get to 5 pages and SEN will think it really is a story and open up the lines. From there it will escalate and wind up on news. Before you know its huge ! Very well oiled machine this.

Hmm the board :yikes:

Lets see the options.

1. Sack him and use AFL behavioural policy as basis for decision, meaning the club doesn't have to pay out Fev?
2. Sack him and pay out contract. Would the contract be included in 2010 or spread over remaining years?
3. Trade him and pay part of his contract. Any takers? Swans maybe.
4. Suspend him from the club for 6 weeks from Feb 1st (Completion of pre-season training).
5. Do nothing.

Won't it be ironic on the Footy Show if they show the footage from the brownlow that caused Fev to lose his contract with Channel 9!!

My favourite bit of publicity was this one:

"The contractor, who did not want to be named, admitted Fevola had his alcohol supply cut off at 2am, but said the spotlight on him this week was unfair.

Unfair? nah he's a cauliflower.

He told the Progress Leader other players and football personalities were smashing bottles and dropping drinks.

That's a lie! Caro or Mike would've written an article about it otherwise.

“Fevola was drunk, but so were a lot of others,” he said.

Another lie. Fevola was the only one drunk. Mike and Caro said so.

“I’ve worked a few Brownlows and Monday’s behaviour was pretty similar""

Bullshit. If it had been similar we would've read about it in previous years. You think we're all stupid?

What's the definition of "alcohol-related incidents" in legal terms?

Wow, this story is still headline news in Melbourne. Page 1.

No one is giving a stuff about it in Sydney (Australia's biggest city)...other than a few forum members.

I was chatting to a few footy nuts in Brizzy and Gold Coast....mmmm nothing much there either.

This is really a Melbourne story, and its getting bigger by the day. Typical. Footy is religion.

Just watch Fev over the next 12 months. Tail between his legs. Remorseful.

Problem for Fev is that he can't rewind the clock.

He's a serial offender and knowing him, he'll behave for a while...maybe abstain from the drink for the next 12 months.

If he helps us win a flag in 2010, all will be forgotten and our dream becomes a reality. Fev will be a hero. Then Fev will be Fev again, over and over again till he hits 40. Just get us a flag Fev, then you can do whatever man.

It's really boring. We all know that Fev will re offend.

Time heals all wounds. I hope he gives up the drink till the next flag.
I hope he commits to that...publicly...and then he'll be a good guy again...in everyone's book.

What else can the club really do if he shows remorse at the meeting with the board, and commits to a no drink policy till we win a flag? He'll con his way through this. All deviants have the ability to con others, including themselves.

Geez I love him, but geez he shits me. What a waste of an opportuntiy to make something positive of himself. The devil in the drink will always get him.

Like its been said before Fev is Fev. He's a goose. I just want him to concentrate on his footy and his club. Can deviants do that? I give up, can they?

Just get me a flag for the Dark Navy Blues; that's all I think about.

There's a fair bit talked about Fev being pursued by the media. Poor man-child!
The camera keeps jumping out at him when he just wants to be left alone to let his hair down...

Without wishing to get further into an arguement about the behaviour of Fevola, perhaps there should be more focus on just where Channel 9 sit on this one and the sheer hypocrisy of the National Broadcaster.

I.I.R.C. Nine were more than happy to run with a very " tired and emotional" Brendan Fevola as host of their Street Talk last year( funnily enough in keeping with their usual game)

Low and behold they have an even more outrageous Brendan this year and in fact adopting a very high profile very early in the evening!

Surprise, surprise, Nine walk away and say his contract will be withdrawn and that they would not show the segment!

Blow me down 24 hours later the patter seems to be that it will be shown seemingly in the "national interest"!!!!!

Call me old fashion but the double standing of the media and particularly Channel Eddie is breath-taking!
