But for me three things are important to remember:
1) Fev's already had a stipulation in his contract stating that if he gets pissed again he's gone. This stipulation may not exist anymore, but the fact that one existed to begin with speaks volumes.
2) Whether he likes it or not, in public places (specifically official functions) he is representing his football club, employer, shareholders (members), sponsors and when he makes a goose of himself in these arenas it reflects on these other people.
3) The fact that he's had a "shape up or ship out" clause in his contract, been fined countless times and been removed from the leadership group indicates he doesn't respect authority. We can bang on about the PC police all we want, but THE CLUB has a set of rules for behaviour and conduct, and with such punishments the club obviously has felt he's broken these rules. The club sets rules, he breaks them, gets punished, wash rinse repeat.

I don't give a flying !@#$%& what the media thinks of this, what the do-gooders think, or what the 'let boys be boys' crowd think. What matters to me is what the club thinks of this, and they aren't !@#$%& happy. If only the punishments actually solved the problem.

Public places? Was it open to the public or only people invited to the Brownlow?

Good chance is none of us would even know about it if it wasn't for a gossip columnist following him around all night and some bloke waving his mobile around whilst Fevola sung karaoke.

On the topic of that video, did Fevola realse his image so it could be used? Pretty sure he was filmed without his consent and most likely even if he knew someone had a phone on him he never would've allowed his image to have been released to the media. Pretty creepy filming someone like that.

The truth is only relevant to those who are high and mighty enough to pass judgement on him. To ordinary people it is irrelevant. It doesn't impact our lives, it never has and never will and we're not stupid enough to pretend it does.

I'd say it was public in the sense that there were members of the media there, whose job it is to report on matters with public interest to the public.

Yep, public. If a massive national tv audience is watching then in principle it makes it public. If it is behind closed doors with no link to the outside world, it is private.

We're arguing semantics here.

Yeah, I'm with you, Don.

Verbs, you're splitting hairs.

Nothing is private any more for public figures such as football players.

We've all done things we're ashamed of.
That said, being traded can be a reality check that's good for the player and for his game in the long run. Players can get into a rut at a club.
Fev has some awesome skills but is not your perfect footballer on the field and no-one's indispensable.
Brendan Fevola is rapidly becoming the face of Carlton and will be even more so for the next five years.

Duke, Donstuie, I agree.

Having said that, Brendan Fevola attended the Brownlow presentation as a representative of the
club.

He not only trashed his own reputation, but also that of the Carlton Football Club.

Enough already, get what you can for him and move on.

The "problems" were as part of the Footy Show's Street Talk.

Anything before or after that were as tame as going on the gossip rag's reports.

I take it you expect all of us to talk about your private life then?

I'll get onto the HS to follow you around when you're next out and we'll all be able to tut tut when you do bad karaoke.

If I had a profile like Fev, then thats exactly what would happen. Its a spurious and silly comment as no-ones actually interested in my life. But if I was under the spotlight, I'd be careful about where and when I got up to mischief.

You don't think if I behaved like Fev did at my companies work function that it wouldn't be an issue? You can try to justify it all you like, but I suggest you go and read any HR protocols and you will see that employees at an employer function need to behave appropriately.

I do not begrudge the lads having some fun and being able to let their hair down. But the Brownlow is hardly the place to do it. over.

You may say it's spurious but it was you who brought up your own situation as a comparison.

Does it escape you that the "problems" were part of the Channel 9 Street Walk segment? Part of Fevola's employment with Nine?

The rest was just bullshit which has nothing to do with profile and need never have been reported other than to satisfy the endless lust for morons to read crap and then get on their high horses like idiots.

verbs, I brought up my own situation in terms of corporate functions and the requirement for employees to behave appropriately.

So I take it you are now angry at the club for fining him?

No, couldn't care less if he was fined $1, $1000 or $100,000 or nothing at all. Means absolutely nothing to me and impacts my life not one iota.

If Fev wants to sing karaoke and hug his teammates. Slap them in the face and tell them he loves them...dude I don't care. I don't think about it during the day at work, I don't want to read about it in the papers and it's boring as hell reading people complain about it on the internet. Gossip mongers with nothing better to do than drone on like pious morons.
