5 goals in a final? Can the comparisons to Neon Magic Leon Davis end now?

I reckon even at this early stage in Yazz's career it's an insult (to Yazz) to compare him to Neon Leon...

you people all complain that too much is expected from him early, and then you talk him up like he will deliver #17 next year.

it was the VFL. take it easy.

Yarran and Garlett are special talents. I just don't know where their form will leave our Eddie  . Hopefully we can find spots for all three.

As good as Yarran is, I think Jeffrey's ability to know what his opponent is going to do before he does is un---------believable.

id like to see eddie move into the middle more permanently next season. he has that toughness of a little terrier, quick smooth hands, and always somehow gets to the ball before most... could find himself picking up a few vital clearances a game..! Pfieff and Eddie could easily be our inside mid answers...

Yes Blue terrace I think we all understand its the VFL, but it was a final, it was against quality VFL oppossition ... and we have all seen that at AFL he has the silky skills. What he needs is a bigger tank and maturity. Commitment (which a few people were worried about) seems to be covered at this point and the fact that Ratts and boys rate him very highly cannot be ignored.

Yes one awesome showing in the VFL should not be taken out of context .... BUT .......

We are talking about YAZZZZZZZZZZLLLIEEEEETTT here!

..myself speaking, i was very concerned early on due to Yazz himself saying he didn't wanna leave W.A, and early on was showing definate signs of a lackluster attitude towards being here.. ..factoring in what i [still] think of as being bigger weaknesses on our list, and other ppl saying he would need 'x' amount of time to come good, there were legitimate questions to be asked.. ..there's nothing wrong with asking questions either, some ppl are far too sensitive.. ..some posters need to stop being at extreme ends in where they stand in regards to things carlton.. ..there's plenty of middle ground where discussions can take place without ridiculing other posters, or exaggerrating other poster comments..

..now, that being said, i've already been changing my views on him, with Yazz showing more commitment and intensity as the season has rolled on.. ..and i always said due to him being so young i was willing to give him a little extra time.. ..but i still very much stand by my earlier reasoning, that if ANY kid [non kpp] drafted top ten takes a few years to play some good consistent afl level footy, in the way todays game is,, isn't worth a top ten pick unless said kid becomes elite [real elite, not the elite some posters claim elite to be, i.e - each club has a half dozen elite players bollocks].. ..and this counts more-so for us, considering how far back our list has come from in regards to us doing a near full rebuild..

..now, onto comments by some questioning where Yazz and Errol's form will leave Edwardo.. ..keep a lid on it folks.. ..Edwardo has been carrying an injury, and still kicked 37 goals in a side with a shizen F50 set-up.. ..he's had the most assists at our club, and 6th highest overall in the afl.. ..highest tackles in the F50 at our club, and again i think top half dozen in the afl.. ..he'd be even better if our mids stopped kicking the highball to him.. ..with eddie, if our mids aren't capable of kicking low passes to him, why don't they kick it out in front of him, to advantage, and let him run onto it..

Totally. I wonder where these values came from? No doubt an entire generation was born with a freak genetic mutation.

And go YARRAN.

I like that thinking.

Pfeiffers accuracy in his switching of play yesterday was great. He looks a real tough nut as well.

Both are still quite young as well.

Yarran and Garletts performance yesterday would have raised some eyebrows from opposition coaches.

I'm not quite sure you have covered your backside enough with that paragraph.....perhaps you could expand on it some more.

I think BKB is pretty much on the money. We only know what we see and hear. Some comes from the club, some through others not so close, and some from what we see with our own eyes.

We should be able to question given this site is a discussion forum :? .

I always find it amusing that some posters will get so pissed when player X is criticized, yet player Y is fair game (Whitnall, McLaren, Ackland immediately spring to mind).

Mind you, I've never been critical of Yarran - He's obviously a great player that has a potentially huge future ahead.

Should have kicked 7 (hits the tip of the post, misses a standard snap). Also should have been ABC's player of the game, those first three quarters...UNBELIEVABLE.

Yeah but Whitnall, McLaren, Ackland had a few more years under their belt.

Yazz wouldn't be the first draftee to feel homesick and take quite a while to get over it.
And sometimes you have to go back home to realise your new posting's not so bad.

He and Errol are a bright spot in this year's finals for me.

But I reckon posters putting a massif weight of expectations on the kid or pumping him up with so much adulation that it's hard for him to keep his feet on the ground - it's hard to see how that benofits the Club.

It might of 'just' been the VFL, but hell name me another player who has lit a VFL final up like Yarran did at the weekend. He was that much better than anyone it wasn't funny, add to that he isn't even fit.

Didn't see it dammit. How does he compare with Sizzle Rioli? Is he a different type of player?

I think Rioli had a great opening preseason. Yaz is still a long way off fitness-wise, but we saw first hand how good he can be operating just on talent.

Yarran will be fine - just need to stop him getting homesick.

I am more worried about: Browne, Pfeiffer, Ellard. All seem to play well for the Ants, but haven't been able to step up to AFL level yet.
I think Edwards, Bannister and Hartlett will be on the chopping block before them, but I really hope they can lift their performance to the next level early next year.
Anderson too is still not a certainty to have a long future IMO.

Here's hoping a VFL premiership can really galvanize our younger players and give them the confidence they need.
Go Ants!
