Yeah Hamil left a sinking ship (true reflection that he was never a carltonian to begin with!) ... Do not really think it counts as the dark years Carlton were not Carlton ... I view the last 8 years as an aberation and as soon as we landed Juddy Carlton was back to being Carlton ... will stay that way for another 100 years me hopes!

Yarren will be a gun in 4-5 years which is too late. I've posted about this before so all I'm saying is we will regret this one for ages. Rich would have been perfect for our 3-4 year premiership window.

So wait...our 3-4 year premiership window will be closed in 4-5 years?

You mean to tell me that when Gibbs and Kreuzer are about 24, Murphy 26, Walker 27, Judd 30, and Yarran is 22, our premiership window will have closed? If we continue to support these players with good coaches and good young players, (such as Austin, Hampson, Grigg, etc, who will all be about 25), we should keep it open as long as everyone is playing to the best of their ability and the club is stable.

Well,don't worry.There is hope.
The premiership windows can in fact get stuck...and that way they stay open longer than expected,as the man who originally built them is no longer around.....and..no-one is sure how they work.

I just wanted to post my frustrations of the shit that chris yarran has been getting! ive been reading shit on talking carlton and bigfooty about carlton people who want him gone and continue to give him shit! get off his back, his only young and he needs time! forget about rich, yaz will be a better player than rich, he is something special and he will show all u guys how good he can be! people need to remember that his only 18! he already loves the club (last week against the swans he kissed the jumper after he kicked a goal). Maybe its the alcohol talking but ive had this view for a while, Im just sick of people giving him shit and writing him off already give him time and from wot ive seen already in the few games his played this year, his gonna be a star! so get off his back and start supporting him!

It's all good big fella. Where have people been slagging him off?!

I've only read posts from people spewing that he is omitted for Garlett.

Yarran has 2 things in his favour
Talent
Age

He has time well and truly on his side
He has had a tough upbringing
He has had a tough year emotionally

Hopefully in a couple of years he will have the tank to play on a more consistent basis

My concern is that he does dop his head at marking contests
He has taken the short steps on a couple of occasions
He needs to eradicate this from his game pronto

Bit harsh
No

Its a tough game

But the upside is huge

Brief but nice radio interview with Yazz after the Bullants match today.

Basically he admitted that he has had trouble running out matches this year and that he needs to improve his consistency.

Can't wait to see him in Navy Blue next year after a full pre-season. He's gonna be a ripper!

A quiet last quarter aside, he was bloody fantastic today. kicked 5, and was such a focal point in the forward line, was involved in just about everything in the second quarter.

Once his fitness improves he will be a star!

I went to the game today and at half time went on the ground for a kick. Ratts was having a kick with his son and my uncle went up to him and asked what he thought of Yarran, and to quote him directly, he said: "He's going to be a beauty". I then asked Ratts if Yarran was going to Perth and he said absolutely not.

I was sitting a couple of rows in front of Ratts and he was with Mark Riley. At one stage Yarran took a mark near the boundary line in the 50 and Riley said, 'come on, make the angle harder'. He did, and just missed. The both of them were just awestruck the whole game.

Good to see a lot of the guys were there. Gibbs, Murphy, Thornton, Kreuzer, Judd, Austin, Grigg, Jamo, Robinson (to name some). Wiggins and Austin were on crutches and Grigg was in a moon boot. Thornton was limping VERY badly. He's had to work like a dog this season.

What I find so funny is that TC'ers are always so short sighted and knee jerk. We have gone from "why did we not get Rich instead - sack the recruiters" - to "Yarran will be the next Judd."

I would think Yarran is a Grand Cru Classe and will be very good....

Who said Yarran would be the next Judd? All I'm reading is kudos for his skills and expectation that he can produce the same in the big leagues with some pre-seasons under his belt

There were some Steve Johnson moments today. Not sure about him being a midfielder as the people from the WAFL that I speak to say he struggles to run all day but is a freak in front of goals. People who have coached against him tell me he is more of a burst player which he showed today - he was damaging. Could have easily had 7 or 8 to half time.

Most important thing for Carlton right now is that Yazza is enjoying his football. If he is enjoying it then he will be an awesome player.

After watching the Bullants v Port game today, everyone would totally "get" why Yarran was picked at six in the draft. The apparent ease with which he can evade an opponent is scary. When he soccers the ball for goal, you just know that it is going to bounce the right way. Love him.

Screw the midfield. If he can eventually do that sort of thing in the AFL, then the last thing you'd do is waste him in the middle of ground.

What team doesn't need a F50 freak or two?

Some of the stuff he did today was outstanding and the pleasing thing was he produced it in a final. Can definitely see him as a burst midfielder and forward.
