On the coaching front, insiders at South Warrnambool say they put through a call to Carlton's Jordan Banister to see if he was interested in coaching the Roosters next year but it looks like he will be going interstate.

It wouldn't exactly surprise anyone that he is to go. He has been a very servicable (but frustrating) player, Jordan. Was capable of being a more productive footballer, but struggled for consistency at the top level. Played some very good games as a stopper and dominated VFL level, but just not consistent enough.

Credit to the club for giving him every chance as he might have been discarded 2-3 years ago, but I gather he was an excellent clubman and well liked by the players. A far cry from the guy who was kicked out of Essendon* by Sheedy.

Great team man Banno but life goes on.
I'll wait for his Dad to ring SEN before I believe it.

LOL I love it how we sugarcoat a player's limited ability by calling them a "great bloke" or "great clubman".

To be blunt: Jordan Bannister is not a great footballer.

But its the truth....Im just speaking my mind, some people these days cant do this because they will be deemed to be politically incorrect.

Look, nothing against the bloke, im sure he gave it his all and whatnot, but I wont be sad to see him go. The club has moved on rom our dark years and based on what he has shown in his years at Carlton, Jordan doesnt fit into our future plans. We can go on and on about effort and harmony amongst the player group, but at the end of the day the Carlton Football Club's aim is to win matches and to win premierships; and if a player doesnt have the ability to lead us there then I am happy for us to let him go and I wont dwell on how good they were in the change rooms or what they did on the training track.

How about showing a little humility towards a bloke who has played a shitload more games at AFL level than you ever will...

I'm sorry to see him go . He played some good footy at times in some of the worst teams that Carlton ever put on the field . Always gave 100% . Quite a few other more highly regarded players didn't .

But life goes on .

Good Luck Banno !

Bad luck Banno, you certainly left nothing out on the field and in the end injuries didn't help your cause. Good luck in the future!! :thanks:

Bannister was nothing more than a backup player at AFL level, he had some great games, especially on The Chad.

I don't think anyone is critical of his abilities outside of AFL level. Like many players before him some are just stuck at a level that dominates VFL football but just isn't up the level required to make it at AFL level.

It's a shame, I remember he was finding some great form last year before getting injured early and as many have said he is a very good player at VFL level but has struggled to make it back up to AFL standard.

Should have been played solely at CHF.

Destroyed Buckley on at least one occasion too.
