Would you like to me take your high horse to our stables? It would appear you could be engaged in this argument for some time.

2009 was a good year for the Baby Blues.

Finals experienced...tick.

I'll drink to that.

I'll have one for you Fev and the boys.

Sure, have one for me too.

Nah, make that two, and have another very good day; you guys have earned time off.

Just don't drink non stop for the whole 8 weeks.

Lets make sure you young fellas are focussed and fit for the preseason campaign and 2010 season; that's all...and stay out of jail.

Primitive... and just a stupid thing to think is important in this day and age....
Firstly players are too valuable to be playing 'Pollack'
Secondly the embarassment they may cause sponsors is immeasurable if you REALLY think about it.
Thirdly there are a few 18 year old kids involved....
Fourth.. youd think the world has moved on in the last 2 decades from binge drinking..

Could go on and on.......

The whole thing is unprofessional.. and totrally outdated,..... TOTALLY OUTDATED.... just look at the world today.... binge drinking isnt considered a must do by any professional field especially success has been denied...

The whole thing revolves around binge drinking....

its laughable...

Would be more in everybodyes interests to learn to play the modern game.. get themselves fit for next year ... and learn how to kick a football....

Otherwise theyre taking the mickey out of themselves and us...

Some blokes have a problem with alcohol... dunno how some think the whole thing is a good idea in this day and age....

Just a question... if alcohol gets so many players into trouble through the course of the year... why have a day of binge drinking?????

I mean we had a few alcohol fueled incidents in the last few years including this year...... so why encourage risk???

Its a different world now to the one a decade ago.
Standards are different...
and professional football is different.

People are under the microscope... and theyre not getting the $17,000 dollars Collingwood offered Wayne Johnston to defect there.... theyre getting paid much much more... but in return professionalism is required.

... and Johnston and binge didnt mix... hes still paying for it today....

Yea yeah yeah

Players arent the smartest people in the world. They are paid to kick, mark, handball and tackle. They arent drafted for being straight A students. They aren't perfect citizens. They aren't role models away from the field. They are young guys, most in their early 20s, learning about life. Being restricted in going out like every other normal kid their age, one day to have some fun is fine.

I think the perception is that footy players are meant to be goody 2 shoes. If people think that is going to happen then your a bit naive. You will never stop players drinking together after the season

End of season trips off too? wheres it stop. Trying to make players 100% politically correct is stupid.

They aren't ruining the clubs image. They aren't losing any sponsors over mad monday.

Politically correct is different to being RESPONSIBLE for their wellbeing... the well being of others.. the well being of their footy club.. and the well being of everybody else associated with their footyclub.

Its about being responsible and with the times.

Let me give you a few names..
Fevola
Cloke
Scotland
Stevens
Houllihan

... i can rattle of a few more for you..... but i wont.... all embarssed themselves and their clubs with drink over the last few years...
... some rather seriously.....

Then you have kids like...... Okeefe.. Yarran... Garlett.. Robinson... etc... mixed in with them....good mix do you reckon???

Seriously... its just stupid..

This club has had some very serious events over the last 20 years with alcohol... including death and injury....

....and youre right..."players arent the smartest in the whole world"....

exactly!!!

Is there or is there not

OMG shock horror, call the FBI, somebody at a pub appeared intoxicated.

Being serious now, players should just go to strip joints and drink there. You don't want to get caught taking a photo there with your camera.

..in defence of some posters [not that they need it], but i reckon there's a world of difference between enjoying drinks, even a long drawn out session,, and out and out binge drinking.. ..huge difference..

I actually think Fev maybe a lot smarter then people think, he may of brought the dildo or one of the other players might of brought the dildo, but by him raising that dildo in the air and getting photographed, he will probably earn $20,000

I think last year he got $80k a year from footy show for 4 shows. Any extra show l think he got $20k. He got a extra show out of the footy show for the dildo walk at fed square that week last year

So if it was me and i knew the media would be after a story, you would be silly not to do something stupid in a bit of fun, use the publicity and get called up for the footy show again and ching ching

Should it have to happen for us to say "Oh!!!..... that was a bad idea.."

Thats so outdated... so rugby league.... so passe...

And didnt happen yesterday.... but has happened...

Why encourage it????

Its not like it wont happen..... ever...and why @#$%&! up everythibg we have worked for ... cos of a Mad Monday???

SYNBAD - Your point is taken, but l still don't think anything is wrong with it.

From what l heard today, they didnt do anything wrong. They have security guards for intoxication at pubs and bars.

I'm sure if the players were really that intoxicated then liquor licensing would be onto those pubs.

Even if they were pissed and drunk, then good on them. Just having a bit of fun for once

You can live in the past but l haven't heard of many issues with alcohol the last couple years. Apart from the well document fev pissing issue and scotland ballarat story. And so what, Membership actually was a record very recently hey :)

Hes not like collingwood players drink driving and breaking the law. Potentially killing other people.

Fev is good for Carlton, l just find it funny the media only track Carlton and Fev looking for a story :P

Stop being so precious Carlton members.. Players go out after 44 weeks of the year spent training and playing and get pissed. Who cares!!! They only have 8 weeks off the whole year, let them enjoy it. As long as no body gets hurt or does anything against the law.

If you are under the age of 30 and can go out with out being pissed in the public arena for 44 weeks straight, then my hat goes off to you. But, if you can do that, you must not have much of a social life aswell.

So unless you go out and get pissed, you have no social life.

That's pretty pathetic.

And if they only did it during the 8 weeks they have off, then I'd be more accepting. Knowing they did it mid-season, the night before an important interstate match makes me less tolerant.
