It wouldn't surprise me to see a few quotes from threads like this quoted over the next 24 hours.

That article is an absolute joke.

That's really all the attention or assessment it deserves.

Exactly! Some pissed bloke who tried to talk to a few of the boys but they didnt want to be seen talking to someone who had no teeth and smelt of week-old urine.

They never want to chat to me!

Still though - how much effort would it be for the club to book a pub for the boys and shut it down for the general public. We just won the premiership up here and that's what we organised for the boys. A few hours at our club until the patrons started arriving then a bus to a pre-booked pub where they couldn't get in any harm.

No complaints from bar staff or public. Fantastic year.

We're a semi-professional club. Wouldn't someone have thought about perhaps doing it that way in one of the largest professional clubs in Australia? Everyone knows shit is going to happen and photo's are going to get published. Why not harm minimise it.

Must have. I seriously question the attitude and maturity of some of our players. We need more guys like Murphy and Judd who set great examples for the young guys.

I did, typo.

After the brissy game, l think they deserved a few drinks to blow of steam. I heard this from a mate of a mate that was in the rooms after the game. Alll the players come in the rooms, sat down, not a word was spoken. Sticks come in, walked around the whole group in a circle twice, looking at each player. Not a word was spoken. Complete silence. Ratts come in stood in the middle, looked around at the players, put his head down, and said lets go behind closed doors. Atleast they felt the pain for letting the club down.

Stop being so precious Carlton members.. Players go out after 44 weeks of the year spent training and playing and get pissed. Who cares!!! They only have 8 weeks off the whole year, let them enjoy it. As long as no body gets hurt or does anything against the law.

If you are under the age of 30 and can go out with out being pissed in the public arena for 44 weeks straight, then my hat goes off to you. But, if you can do that, you must not have much of a social life aswell.

..got no problem with them having a good ol' fashioned booze-up.. ..provided they're "happy drunks".. ..not sure how they are on the turps, but some ppl handle their booze better than others, and those that can't handle their liquor shouldn't be getting pickled..

..as for it being an old footy tradition, so was having a ciggy on the sidelines and a few bevvies pre-game.. ..the world's changing, and 'old traditions' can sometimes be 'old' for very good reasons.. ..if you've got a large group of ppl getting thoroughly trashed in public, then even plastered they need to be able to behave themselves.. .and if they can't, then precations should be made.. ..just hire out a huge place, invite a heap of their friends and have a big 'house party'.. ..hell, then they can fire up the bongs too for all i care..

Well they probably can't handle it cos they barely drunk all year :)

I see what your saying, but why would single footy players wanna stay at a house n not meet some single hot chicks when they are out. Its discrimination against footy players doing what everyone else can do with a bunch of mates. We are only talking one day of the year, who cares.

North melb did the party at home thing, and carey got caught with stevens missus, club doesnt need that :)
