You captain a club not just the group of players you play with ... benny couldn't behave himself time and time again and as a result he was not a leader for the club. As the years go by Judd will start to feel more comfortable in the role ... he would have been feeling uncomfortable just walking in and taking on the role but took responsibility to captain the club that was the laughing stock of the decade. Premierships are won on the training track and he certainly leads in this regard. This is far more to captaining than RA RA RA.

..tonnes of great football captains have been 'badboys'.. ..sure nowadays we like them to also be media-savvy, and it helps to stay largely out of the scandals, but during benny's captaincy the players would have given all they could for him.. ..and if training track preparation is anything to go by, where do you think Juddles learned to train like a madman from..?.. ..hell, good ol' benny boy walked into tuggerland and immediately had a presence there too.. ..ultimately i agree, a captain nowadays is more than just the leader of the players, there's alot more to it, but being a real leader of footballers [not role-models or boyscouts] is the most important factor..

Look, just cos you put two full stops after every sentence, doesn't make them twice as good.

What the flower does Ben Cousins being a good captain have to do with whether Judd is or not. He captained a premiership team, won a Norm Smith, that's good enough for me.

Stupid stupid thread. And I'm the biggest stupido because I'm contributing to it. Duh!!

If J Brown played for us I would make him captain, seeing as he doesn't and never will I'll stick with Judd who has been outstanding this year.

..i can be grammatically lazy at the best of times..

..the points i was making regarding good ol' benny boy were in context to replies i was making to another posters' comments, not in regards to the O.P..
