Didn't see it.
Didn't listen to it.
Was out in the middle of nowhere buying silver and no internet.
Sasw the result this morning.
At the start of the year I said I would be happy with 7th.
Well, we finished 7th.
I'm happy. Not with last night's result in isolation but 2009's result.
Bring on 2010 with Warnock, Waite, Jamo, Walker, Kreuzer and the kids with anothet pre-season and this loss making them realise all their year's work went out the window in 30 minutes.
Ratts will have six months to ponder his strengths and weaknesses and those of 15 other coaches.

Next year I'll be happy with 4th or 5th.

Standard move. Keeps pressure off the injured area.

Yesterday was a game we should have won, you dont go into a final thinking we were lucky to be there and did what we set out to do...make 1st week of finals! Disgraceful last qtr and disgraceful lack of urgency from Ratten. You could just see Brisbane were coming in the last and there was NOTHING done to curb it. Clog their forward line! Drop players back, Bower was clearly injured and we still had him going one on one with Bradshaw. Throw Eddie into the midfield, he did nothing else all game. And why on EARTH was Judd sitting on the bench??

If our guys are young, inexperienced etc etc it is up to the coach to identify the deficiencies and win the game. :banghead:

If Ratts had of flooded blokes back and they still got over us he would have copped for being too negative. Also the coaching staff would have all data on Judd and how many minutes on end he can perform at his best. They rested him in the last when we played them up there last time and he came back on and found the energy to kick us the winning goal.

In the end we were just not good enough on the night. Their premiership players stood up and won them the game.

Phenomenal effort to get back on and inspirational too in the third quarter with a cracking bit of contested footy that he ended up getting out to Armfield. He's a beauty is Joseph.

Gotta knock these things on the head; give it an hour and some numpty would have declared he broke his ankle and we juiced him so he could play on.

Just got back home after being in Brisbane for the game. Was fortunate enough to be on the plane with the players on the way home and the boys were shattered.

Great voice and support by the Carlton faithful, but just absolutely gutted

However something makes me think that such a loss may be vitally important in galvanizing the side for the 2010 season knowing the feeling of failing on the biggest stage. Hoping that this can spur us on to bigger and better things

I have been too gutted to post anything.

I never felt comfortable at any time even at 30 points up - Lions always looked likely to kick goals when they entered their forward 50.

One more goal during Lions run in the last would have been enough - we were not good enough to deliver it.

Very very disappointed - we need to improve in lot of key areas not least of all in the coaches box.

Having said that the players need to be accountable and ALL of them need to have a look at what THEY can do to improve themselves so we can finish in the top 4 in season 2010.

I've been pretty quiet for the most part myself. Mainly because the rage has yet to subside and most of the things floating around my head right now are consistent with much of the negative stuff being written right now

Our fault for carrying so much dead wood;

Wiggins,
Houlihan
Stevens (apart from a few minutes in 3rd quarter)
Cloke (was an ok target, but so slow and not athletic)

I tell you what, Murphy and Gibbs need to get their hands dirtier next year. They are beauties when in space, but they dont throw themselves at the ball and run hard.

Our kick ins are terrible - how many goals we give away from them.

This behind, and sidewards kicking at the 4 minute mark of every quarter is shocking.

Very Very disappointed on last night. Our mids can learn something from Black, on 1 leg with the way he played.

Houlihan was one of our best last night I thought. Did some good things in traffic and kept his head in finals pressure. He is not dead wood just yet.

Yeh in patches.

Not good enough for an older player at our club.

He does not work hard enough all the time. He is not the only one by the way, he is one of many.

But we cannot carry so many soft players.

Geez some of you people talk shit...

But for the last 15 mins last night how different today forum would look.

'edit'

Our structure was good for who we had the game plan was good we were generally the better team on the night. To bring up rubbish that it was the coaches fault is pathetic. Go pedal your anti Rat's crap somewhere else.

Throw in Jamo, Hadley, Warnock and Waite and were right up there

"Bower is useless should go" crap

"No hardness or intensity" crap

We played very well, Just lacked expierience in how to win a final. Went into our shell a bit.

I'm gutted about the result like everyone else. But I'm not sacking all the players and the coaching staff like the rest off you. :donk:

I'm very happy with our season because I know we're coming!

To Matty Kreuzer ..... Check out today's Sunday Herald-Sun (sports section) and cut out the photo of the Brisbane supporter handing you a tissue as you're walking off the ground last night. Put the cutout in an old wooden frame. Use the photo to inspire you for 2010 and if we happen to play Brisbane in the finals next year you can shove the photo (frame and all) up the guy's ar$$.

Wasnt the coaches fault last night. Some might find peace in blaming him but the truth is the Lions were just better on the night.

They made the most of their momentum and we didnt when we had it.

What did Ratten do when Brisbane were coming? How did he respond?
