I'd take Worsfold's three consecutive elimination losses followed by a grand final loss with a premiership any day of the week.

The feral WCE fans had hundreds of "Worsfold is not DA MAN!!" threads going in those five years. Then they all smirked and said "I TOLD YOU SO!".

Wankers. :screwy:

Why does Carlton have all the flower supporters?

You're right...I think it is because we are used to success...but it is ALL IN THE PAST!!!

We have to build a new Carlton Football Club.

This starts now.

Next year they will be hungrier and harder.

But the smirkers, in the second year crapped on after losing their second elimination final. And the third year? they crapped on again.

We'll have to put up with the smirkers rubbish for a while yet, just because they are "used to success". I suppose they demand it.

Still doesn't mean they're not wankers.

And I guess we have to put up with their moaning and groaning like the obnoxious couple next door for a while yet.

[REDACTED] if I'm gonna move just becuase a bunch of wankers have moved next door and support the Blues.

Carlton must get a strong coach not a yes man to the the President.

I suggested last week that given the lack of a tall defender Sentana should have been given a job on a tall forward.
This game should never have been lost let Ratten can go and practice somewhere else.

Isn't there a "venting" thread somewhere that would have been more appropriate??
BTW .... I didn't get much sleep either.

Given that Ratts is with us next season no matter what...we really need to bring in some people who understand how todays game is being played. IMO the game now is all about multi tasking type players built around a disciplined balance of defence and attack.

By multi tasking I mean players who are not one trick ponies...i.e. Cloke, Wiggins, Bentley, Johnson and co. These players and their type are now obsolete...no in fact they have been obsolete for quite some time now. A one trick pony type is a liabilty. And a coach who cannot develop and bring out other tricks in the players he has is also going to be a liability.

Take Garlett for example...most would agree he has been a great pick up and I agree BUT if he does not develop other tricks to his game in time he will become obsolete (by those given the job of developing him). Our game is no longer about the long kick to the pack where you need crumbers like Garlett and Betts there to crumb...seriously this rarely happens these days (except at our club where our fwd 50 entries are still based on 80's footy).

Today its all about systematic footy. Bringing the ball in with precision to a variety of options working to a plan to create space to mark uncontested. The Adelaide model is interesting. Their forward line is based on 4 or 5 players of similar build who create space. All of their forwards are interchangeable. They are a multi trick line up. We need to not only be concerned with who we recruit (because a player here or there is not going to get us to a GF), we need to make sure we have the best people in place to develop the multi skills necessary in our existing list for us to go forward....at the moment off field we only have one trick ponies.....and if this persists we will be left with a team of one trick ponies on field.

I haven't seen the game after 1/2 time but I did see that with 15 minutes to go in the game we were 28pts up. I presume Ratts and the boys must have done something right to get in that position.

............it could have been the fact they (Brizzie) had so many players on one leg for so much of the first 3 quarters..........a few jabs here and there and a bit of time for the drugs to have an impact and they zoom past us.

Could have been, but there was more to it than that.

The loss sucked the big one, and we should have won. But we didn't. Hopefully that makes both the playing and coaching staff hungrier for success. And hungrier to do what is required to achieve that success.

not sure if its all about being "hungrier".. we need to have the right people in place to allow us to be 'capable'...

'mates' just doesnt cut it in this day and age.

start with a more up to date mix in the box...

you mean 'mates who don't cut it just don't cut it in this day and age' - much any any day and age really.

The Adelaide model has proven zilch against the best teams in the competition. Neil Craig will be coming over here this weekend with huge bricks on his shoulders. His team has a lot going for it against Collingwood, if they lose it will be another wasted season. He has been there 5 years and he and his team need to start winning finals they are expected to win.
Neil Craig is a home and away champion and nothing else.
