Two very even teams the Blues and Lions. They got us tonight ............probably the home ground and crowd was the difference.
We didnt capitalise as much as we should have when we had momentum and when they got it in the end they did what they had to do with the crowd behind them.

I think in time tonights loss will prove to be a great lesson to our team. We know exactlly where we are and will work hard to make the changes required.

Go Blues !

Hawthorn, Sydney and North were all top 8 sides this time last year and were all absolute crap this year

And you read what into that?

To crap on about how we are going to have a tough draw next year because we are going to have to play "top 8" sides twice next year is primary school rubbish.

The "top 8" from this year will be irrelevant when the ball is first bounced this year. Either we're on the way up, or we're on the way down like North and Sydney or a one hit wonder who almost made it again like Hawthorn.

I gather you think we're either a one hi wonder (with no chance of making it next year) or like Syndey and North, a team in decline.

Either way, your delusional.

I think you may need a good lie down verbs. Where did I say any of that? :screwy: I'm delusional?

I know it's been a tough night but c'mon mate.

So we're gonna get a tough draw next year based on what?

Give me a break.

You might be disappointed about just losing tonight, but going all doom and gloom and making out like we'll be bottom four next year because of a draw which hasn't been realeased yet is school boy stuff.

Not a lot said of interest in the press conference. Other than that Judd is apparently still a baby of the competition.

WTF are you talking about?

I knew you were a little weird verbs, but this just takes the cake!

I think you'd better have a read of the posts from a few pages ago because you have me confused with someone else - "yibbida" maybe?

Funny how the effort increased by 200% once the Lions got close in the last quarter. WHERE THE @#$%&! was the pressure all night??????? Eddie betts?? GArlett.. dont even remember seeing these people in the last quarter? The really dissapointing thing for me was the effort. I can probably list 5 or 6 players who really gave it their all. The rest seemed like passengers.
The only positive here is the finals experience the players gained. And hopefully they can take this into next year with them and realize when you stop the opposition is gonna run over you.

Bring on 2010.

That's all.

If the players are hurting 50% of how much the supporters are, they should get down and dirty from tomorrow. We should be on a mission now. If we aren't there's something seriously wrong.

Maybe yibbida was saying our draw will be tough next year because we will be playing top 8 teams from this year.

Maybe you quoted me mentioning that North Sydney and Hawthorn were top eight teams from last year that didn't make the eight this year as some sort of twisted logic as to us being shit next year.

Whatever. If you want to make this about me being weird, good on you. Says a lot about you really.

If you reckon the Blues will be shit next year, just say it and spare the rest of us your "verbs is weird" rubbish.. We don't really care if your heartbroken about tonight and "hurting".

Through 2007's troubles and 2008's gains, 2009 has been a great year and if you or anyone else reckons 2010 will be hell, well good luck to you.

Sorry that's the way you feel. BAD LUCK!

I know I will come in for criticism and from who, but can I ask if anyone thinks that Setanta's desire and passion is contagious and would have been handy tonight in at least defending from the front??

Yep. Whether or not he would have made the difference I dunno. He hasn't been right since that hit from Fev, which is a shame as he was travelling nicely before that. Either way my heart sank when I saw he had been dropped - precisely for the reasons you say Beano. At 3/4 time I was thinking 'yer next week in Setanta out Cloke'...

And do you think looking at our list, we need his finishing skills, or more run and carry?

Yeah, he was handy, but it's being intimated that we would have been better with him and we should have gone for him instead of Yarran. I disagree, and thus am not that enthused.

Pretty dumb comment by Ratts really...I'm sure he must have been referring to Gibbs or soemone else surely...

You don't win finals with a second rate coaching staff. That was a disgraceful effort by the coach. I would not know where to start.
Carlton sides don't lose finals like that
Build a backline or perish. And get a backline coach or perish
Put Kruezer at centre half forward or perish. You can't win finals with one forward
Tackle, Tackle, Tackle. Disgraceful tackling effort. Not up to finals standard
Delist the down hill skiers the players who play one quarter out of four. (Stevens, Wiggins, Houlihan, Cloke & friends can not win you a premiership.

Backline - We had Jamo and Waite injured. They could have replaced Wiggins and Grigg, as rough start.

Forwardline - We had Cam Cloke as a second forward, he didn't do too bad, but that's probably as good as he'll get. Kreuzer is still developing and needs to get stronger. I agree it would be good if he can play more time up fwd, but that's probably not going to happen until (or if) Warnock and Hampson are our regular rucks.

Tackle - Yeah, we need to get better there. Or at least more consistent.

Delist - There's only so much we can do. Given our list and their stage of maturity we took a step forward in 2009, but certainly didn't over achieve. There is plenty of room for improvement with our current talent, give or take a few tweaks.

Time is on our side, yes it is.
