wtf ?? No Campbell Brown?? The team needs someone who can bung on the histrionics on the boundary line and make hollow threats down the phone (after safely locking himself in the dunny) and still be the only one at the end of the day who hasn't left a fingerprint on the footy. It's a conspiracy I tell you

The Bernie Vince possible selection is an interesting one. He pantsed Carlton on the weekend - so his credentials rise, but comparing him to Murphy is interesting.

Murphy - 563 possessions - 30 goals
Vince - 597 - 13 goals.

If Vince makes the team you would hope that Murphy also makes it - if only for his goal kicking. Murph deserves a spot on interchange I would think, but do they weight it heavily due to round 22?

I have been following Vince's progress since he started AFL. He is older & bigger than Murphy and is a superior kick. Vince is a gun.

I feel Murph will just miss out due to the number of strong midfielders from the top few teams.
If we were a top 2 team he'd be in there.
That is, he'll be in there next year for sure

If we were a top 2 team he'd be a much more complete player.

That's true.
But if we were a top two team would the deficiencies he may have be less obvious??

Gotta mark a man sometime...

He may be a gun, but he hasn't kicked 30 goals this season. Murph has - and all bias aside I would give it to Murph over Vince if it comes down to them two fighting for a spot in the All-Australian team (even if only on the bench).

98 inside 50's to Murph
75 inside 50's to Vince

38 rebound 50's to Murph
42 rebound 50's to Vince

Andrew McLeod, however, - he is a 100% gun player. He is an Adelaide player that is out of this world. How he is still producing such fine performances at his age is amazing. Not sure of his whole season and if he warranted selection, but based on the games I saw- McLeod is a level above most players.

McLeod didn't make it in the squad though. Of the defenders in that squad I think Lake, Goddard and Mackie are definites.

It would be nice to see Thornton or even Bower challenge for an All-Australian spot in the years ahead.

Thanks for that SAS.

Pity about Murph, but Fev is now a 2-time All Australian. Not a bad effort that.

Great for Fev and Judd, but the AA selectors are SWINES for omitting Smurph.

Murph should have been in.

Congrats Fev and Judd.

Weigh it up: he was vying for one of 8 spots, 1 possibly 2 of which could go to a ruckman.

Ablett, Bartel, Dal Santo, Hayes, Judd, Selwood, Sandilands, Clark. If Swan had have been correctly placed in the midfield group, he would have been next. Why Didak is there, I don't know. I suspect it may have been a ploy to exclude both from contention, in which case, yay.

Murphy didn't deserve the AA nod; Wallace was bang on about him. Change that, and he's in.

Yet didn't Wallet also name Juddy as a DHS?

He's right in a sense that he doesn't push back as much as others in the team, but he also lays about 5 tackles a game in the clinches. The bloke can't do everything.

I don't mind a segregation of duties so long as:

a) Egos don't get in the way of doing said duties
b) What you're doing is helpful to the group

Judd ticks those boxes, and gets back when we really need him. Murphy does not tick those boxes, and is somewhat more reluctant. I would go so far as to say, if you look at our midfield group, he is one of only two who has not been positioned on the HB line at some point in the season.

Grigg is the other.

I think Thornton could almost be AA this year. Almost one of the best marks in the comp and had been pretty handy in the dream team. not too many others have given such value for money.
