Voss just confirmed - Bradshaw, Adcock, Drummond and Merrett all out.

Black is a 30% chance to play.

Said they won't be 100% - and he definitely won't risk them.

Obviously he thinks the rest of his squad can do the job.

FWIW - I just whacked a bundle on the Blues at 1.93. :)

Stretching their defence only works if we have the right mix of players, we use those players, aren't Fevcentric, hold our marks, we have enough crumbers around if they don't and our midfield get forward and push back as well.

If we don't get it right, their runners will destroy us off half-back and Brown and Bradshaw will have a field day.

I can't see Warnock playing this year, It hink people need to get off that hobby horse.

Johnson should go, along with Wiggins. Betts and Gibbs in.

With those outs, there are absolutely no excuses.

I don't think Voss has "confirmed" anything yet - he has just said that they are < 50% chance and is preparing on the assumption they won't be available.
Saying that I think there probably is a bit of smoke and mirrors stuff going on.

If all those players miss there are absolutely no excuses for us.....remember Adcock and Leunberger are missing as well.

Wow we have another Gibbs?

2 Gibbs we'd be a shoe in to win just about any game

I dunno..
I don't trust Voss with this.

To come out and say they are very unlikely to play on the monday before the game is a bit dodge.

Yep - he's playing funny buggers already...I highly doubt Black will miss and expect Merrett to get up as well. They won't risk Drummond however.

He looked pretty genuine to me

you blokes are so used to the ducks and drakes that blokes lke sheedy and matthews and co used to play-

the new breed of young coaches are quite up front usually when asked a question

I think all 5 will miss

Sounds like Warnock is in pretty decent form in the ressies, I think we need to risk him.

Rotate him and Hampson off the bench in the ruck, play Kreuzer at CHF and get Betts, Yarran and Garlett to play around him.

Special K will keep the defenders honest (you can't leave him unmarked), making Fev more dangerous.

And Eddie, Yaz and Garlett will create a ton of forward pressure and make chances out of nothing whenever the ball hits the ground.

2 talls and 3 lightning smalls. It's how we're going to line up next season anyway, may as well field test it now.

We just need to play hard unrelenting football regardless of status quo.

Get some players leading up and presenting up front, and work hard offensively and defensively.

DO that and what more can we ask.

Have to agree with most of this - in particular if Bradshaw is not playing we should stretch Lions as much as possible - as well would like to draw Brennan out of Lions forward line as he always seems to kill us when he plays up forward.

Not sure if we can have all three of Yarran, Betts and Gartlett in the side - but at least 2 of them would be good - with Walker playing as the dangerous third tall forward rather than in the backline.

I think playing out of Melbourne might work to our advantage. A home final (the first in 8 years) might have put a lot more undue pressure on the boys from the Media and the supporters.

Oh and I think Voss is playing ducks and drakes. Last week on Thursday night when he was on 3AW he said Bradshaw was to miss the Swans game only as a precaution.

3 indigineous boys MUST play. Tell them to hunt in packs from ff to the centre square. We need something unpredictable. Pressure the absolute bejesus out of their defence. start Eddie in the square and Gibbs outside. eddie then goes forward of centre or down to the hb and gibbs assumes the centreman position. once the ball starts heading into our f50, betts joins his 2 paesano's and hassles the suitcases out of their defences.
Plan can't go wrong.....unless Brisbane have a, am I allowed to use this word, "gameplan" to counteract. In that case Ratts, need to go to plan B, just kick it to Fev

Trouble is, Ratts started talking about "Wiggins first final" two weeks ago.......which must make it personally hard for him to drop Wiggo.

Michael Voss is either spinning a yarn about the availability of his players, or he's trying to start the Brisbane are underdone and no chance theory.

If we fall for either spiel we could find ourselves in deep doo doo.

We cannot underestimate our opponents this weekend, under any circumstances.

..dunno the concerns with bradshaw and height.. ..whether he's in or out won't make a difference regarding our 'talls' situation, bradshaw isn't all that tall..

Bullants are in the finals too...

Yeah, I think Voss was too eager to cast doubt on those four players, although I'd be amazed if anyone (even Simon Black) played a final the week after limping off the ground clutching his hammy.

I guess either way we'll chuck our best 18 out on the field and hopefully flog them.

Bradshaw missing would be handy - but you never know... calling this on a Monday seems a little odd, plenty of time for
the players to prove their fitness.

And wouldn't this thread be better places in the Pre Match Discussion thread?!
