I got a friend in Brisbane with contacts in the Lions.
He says Black, Drummond are out.
Bradshaw will play
Merrett is 50/50

If Black, Drummond and Merrett (fingers crossed) all miss we should start favourites IMO. Remember they are missing Adcock and Leunberger as well so we don't have any excuses.

ps I hope your friend is wrong about Bradshaw playing.

If Merrett doesn't play, you would think that Bradshaw would go to Fev.

I do too.

He was in the inner sanctum Sunday.

Black is a big out. He cuts us up repeatedly. Bradshaw and Brown playing forward would mean Setanta would have to play back. We don't have a good matchup for Bradsahaw. Bower and Thornton havent done well on him previously. I don't think Setanta will either.

Without Black they are pretty stuffed in the middle. I know they have Rich and Power, but Black was their #1 play maker. We have no excuse not to control the midfield.

Even if Bradshaw goes forward, Thornton can adequately cover him if we're breaking even in the centre. Setanta has Brown for height and speed - if the ball isn't delivered on a platter, Setanta should restrict him to under 3 goals.

McGrath is a big danger given his experience, as is Brennan and Power. After that they fall away.

Blues by 24 points.

Joseph is a good matchup for Power.

Rich has had a fantastic first year however hasn't been heavily tagged yet as Black and Power get most of the attention. I think he might struggle with Black missing and either Grigg or Browne would be a good matchup IMO.

Wonder how Fevs ankle, Stevens' neck and murphy's hand came up after the game. They all looked sore.

I'm surprised about the indifference to Grigg.

I'm sorry, but his best is way ahead of the likes of AB, Ellard, Johnson, Browne, Pfeiffer etc.

Seems like he did well in the Ants and, significantly, his disposal picked up too. The MC put him there to teach him a lesson. Looks like the penny dropped y'day and he's ready for a recall IMHO.

Like him, want him out there on Sat night. He belongs at the highest level and has produced at this level before - compare him to the alternatives.

I agree - Grigg is quality and must play.

In
- Grigg
- Betts

Out
- Johnson
- Wiggins

I wouldn't believe a thing I read in the papers at all this week .... or entire finals series for that matter.
Don't trust a thing you hear until you see the teams run out through the banners.

This is finals smoke and mirrors.

We should win if all 4 dont play.

Time to bring in 206 play Krueze in the forward line expose their defence.

In: Warnock, Grigg, Betts

Out: Johnson, Brown, Wiggins

Anyone caling for Setanta to be dropped has rocks in their head. Assuming Bradshaw plays, we only have Thornton and Bower as KPD.... what happens if one of them gets injured? If one of Waite, Jamo, or Austin were available then he might be in trouble, but they aren't so we need the flexibility to leave Setanta down back all night as insurance.

I want to see 206 in. This is a final and they are won and lost by taking risks and attacking. Clarke is in AA form and could murder us if he has a good night, at least 206 will be able to subdue him in the middle and not allow them to dominate the clearances.

Grigg must play. He has found form in the two's so we must bring him in to add some grunt to the middle.

Selections this week will be crucial, we must attack and not go in aiming to stop the Lions, but have them plan for us.

B: Thornton Bower Armfield
HB: Carrazzo Setanta Russell
C: Stevens Walker Grigg
HF: Yarren Kruezer Gibbs
F: Betts Fevola Houlihan
R: Warnock Judd Murphy
I/C: Hampson, Scottland, Joseph, Simpson

Clark is undersized, he's killing people with his tank and his speed. Warnock doesn't have the fitness to go with him. Hampson will jump all over him and Kruezer will match him around the ground.
