Hope you're happy boys.

Last time we played our first final at the Gabba we went on to make the Grand final

We also happened to lose that game by 70+ points, can't afford that this time

Why not Juzzy - if fev and setanta are key forwards -cant we have the 3 indigenous boys being creative and applying frontal pressure

maybe we need to try something different rather than simply kick to Fev

Can't afford to drop O'Hailpin, we need as many tall players down back as we can to help out T Bird.

Let's put this into perspective.
TC can be the best place after a win, but the worst after a loss.

We have made the finals for the first time since 2001. Well done!! No team wins the premiership from their first finals appearance after such a long time, so let's be happy we are there. Every final is experience for the future. I understand we want more, but let's look at this as it is.

The game won't be in Melbourne. We won't have our best possible side in. Bad Fev played today (despite kicking 5). Our best, other than Gibbs, were quiet. But it's all a learning experience.

Let's enjoy this for what it is - a final, our first for ages. Against a team we play well against, even on their home turf.

A young team may well be bitten by what happened today. But youngsters, especially Gen Y, have an amazing ability to ignore the bad, and focus on the good. Our young boys will play their hearts out next week, and I can't wait to watch it. Whether it is watching it live for some, or on tv for others, I can't wait.

Love the pressure, bring it on :!:

GO BLUES!!!

My changes:

Out: Walker, Russell, Murphy, Gibbs, Judd, Simpson, Kreuzer, Johnson, Yarran, Browne, O'hAilpin, Bower, Hampson, Stevens, Fevola, Armfield, Scotland, Thornton, Houlihan, Wiggins, Carrazzo, Joseph

In: ...

The forfeit would be more honourable than the last two weeks of football.

Would make sense on some levels- the Wallabies are in town on the Saturday night - and I'm sure the authorities would have a preference not to hold them both on the Saturday unless they have to.....

Whilst I am disappointed about yesterdays game its good we are playing Brisbane
Depending on todays game at frankston changes

In Warnock, Betts,Gartlett, Bentick,
Out Browne, Johnson,Wiggins,Yarran

First of all the biggest disappointment yesterday was the centre clearance work. We were smashed. As I have said all year we have too many outside mids. This despite Hampson dominating the ruck.
Kreuzer looks spent so play him down forward. O'hAilpin isnt doing enough down there and kreuz needs a change of scenery.
Warnock will have played 5 games or so by the end of today. He comes in and exposes Brisbanes lack of a true ruckman.
He and Hammer can rotate . He only needs to play 50% game time to be effective and it gives Kreuzer the chance to strut his stuff up forward. I have always maintained that kreuzer's place wont be in the ruck.
Bentick desreves a game if he plays well today. Like Warnock he will have had a month of footy under his belt come this match.
He will provide the grunt we need in the packs. He will be probably be playing for his career which may help.

Betts and Gartlett to come in. I dont want Yarran out of the side but the other 2 boys are ahead of him. Gartett is vital to our team . We play better when he is in.
O'hAilpin hasnt done enough of late but he is the swing man. If Brown or Bradshaw start cutting loose then he can go down there.

I am confident we can win this one.

Wallabies are playing Springboks in Brisbane Saturday night. I would think they would schedule the elimination final in a different timeslot...

Synners
we were smashed in the clearances
Kreuzer is weary and needs a change of scenery. And I dont reckon he is a tap ruckman
And we need an inside mid to do more grunt work
Bentick can do a job
yarran was ok yesterday but I think for team balance you cant have Betts, Yarran and Gartlett in the one side.Only Betts has the tank to go into the middle.

To me the problems started in the middleand at the clearances.
All our mids arnt good at defensive pressure when the ball is in the open but when a team dominates the clearances like the Crows did yesterday you are going to get smashed.

And Kreuzer would be more than handy in attack.

yeah, but you can wear your Carlton gear whilst drumming...and listen to the broadcast with one ear...and the fold back with the other.
It's been done before...
unless you are the singer as well...
that could get a bit tricky.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Nearly every time there was a contest it was whipped out of the congestion by Adelaide.

Their tackles were so much more effective. I thought when our tackling was at its best - 1st quarter- we put pressure on them.
But once they felt they could do their link handballs through the corridor without any consequence there was no stopping them.

An Elimination final is hardly the time to be experimenting, changing everything and playing Kreuzer as a forward.

Modern day football largely depends on the midfield. If our midfield work had, chase both ways and are clean with their disposal we will play a different game.

Our form changed when we sent Stevens and Scotland back to the Bullants to set an example to them and the rest of the side about the workrate required. I believe Grigg is still being taught this lesson. They may have been forgotten last night though. Its too late now but I'd suggest over summer we try teaching a few of our other midfielders about two way football.

Yarran is slightly different though to Garlett and Betts.

He is not tall, but he presents more a a genuine fwd up on the flanks.

Garlett is more the classic front n centre type, as is Betts though he can lead up as well.

Yarran can also go in midfield as he showed against Adel early in the year.

I reckon we can play all 3.

In: Betts, Garlett and one other?

Out: Browne, Johnson and one other?

????

Armfield needs to kick more and provide more run -ok in first half but was a bit absent in 2nd half.

from my point of view, adelaides zoning really killed us. first qr was positive, attack, attack, etc. however couldnt keep it up, and kept missing targets. im not sure why ratts, didnt go 1on1 when the margin grew. it really hurt us when the ball went the other way, loose adelaide players in the middle nearly every time. however, this could be strategic more than anything else. i dont know, i was in the shits last night...

i just hope ratts has a big of game plans next week, cmon ratts you can do it!
