There is a spot here, a chance for you to step up and stamp your name on this team. We might not make it that far in finals, but much past week 1 would be a bonus in everyones eyes. Are you going to sink into the shadows and be 'just a servicable defender'... or are you willing to make the spot yours.. and have your name remembered and feared for the next decade?

We play much better, and have a better structure when Thornton can play as third tall. Theres debate about being too tall, but from memory we lined up early on this season with all of Waite, Jamo, Bower and Thornton. T-Bird can play smaller, so can Bower.. they can run and carry aswell.. But the thing that the medium defenders cant do is play body on body with your Franklins, Mooneys, Riewoldts, etc.

Mark Austin, if we're going to win a finals game, having you in the backline will go a long way to getting us there...

Apparently he has been a bit sore the last couple of weeks. Not sure how ready he is to play seniors

We missed him out there today. We need some tall defenders desperately.

In the absence of Jammo and Waite, he's critical.

We might.. but thats not what we missed out there today...

we missed a willingness to work hard..

Austin may have made the difference even more.....

We had no run in our legs.... they just murdered us with their run and spread...

Mark was on the footy show filling in for Grigg in the handball competition (he won), said that he needs an operation and has to see a couple of specialists.

Austin has an infection which is exacerbating a groin injury. I think.

Ratts words were "Austin has an infection in his groin" so that could be anything from a post-op issue to herpes...
