Agree. Army going back will help, too. That's why I'd stick with Ando, he gives us the flexibility for this sort of move.

Browne for the 4th 'in', IMO. Just ahead of Grigg and Johnno. Browne has been in good VFL form. He's hard at it and a strong tackler, which will help to off-set the loss of Hadley.

First time poster, so be gentle :)

As others have said Yarran and Armfield are givens. I would bring Hampson back if fit. To me he has more upside than Jacobs.

The last spot would be Austin for me. I think that we are going to be found out in the back half by sides with bigger forward lines if we rely on just Thornton and Bower (whom I think have been pretty good). I am pretty sure that I dont want either of them on Tippet this week. So either Austin comes in and plays back, or we bring in both Hampson and Jacobs/Warnock, put O'Halpin down back and play Kreuzer permanent forward.

Tippett - O'Halpin/Austin
Porpise - Bower
Henshel - Thornton
Burton - Russell/Houla

Would then play Walker deep alongside Fev and Yarran. Think we need Walkers pace/tackling to replace Betts/Garlett.

Welcome aboard PJ.

Anyone know the extent of Austin's injury?

Ratten in his Wednesday Press Conference said, in the VFL game last weekend, Jacobs played better than Warnock in the ruck, had 45 hit outs (Yes, that's right, 45 hitouts) and would be seriously considered. Maybe he's ahead of Hampson as well. Adelaides ruckmen are not that crash hot, so if we could get first use in the ruck contests to our mids, it goes a long way to a victory)
Also said, Yarran played well, and will come in this week.
Mentioned, I think, Army coming back this week.

That's 3 definite IN's... according to Ratten. The only players we will really miss are Hadley (For his in and under work in the packs) & Eddie (Hasn't played that well over the last month, but is capable of a 6 goal game when in form)

IMO, we have to consider Adelaide's tall forwards ie Tippett & Stevens. (Thornton & Bower.) Also Porplysia must be tagged. (Houlihan or Joseph?)
Probably Austin, if fit, should come in for backup in defence. Possibly consider Carlos to go back as well to assist.

Has Eddie ever kicked 6 in a game?

The rest could do him good IMO. Eddie strikes me as the type of bloke who would be gutted by this sort of thing (and so he should be). Could be a blessing in disguise.

I reckon we will keep on winning this week and get over the Crows comfortably...setting up a final against the Scum or the Hawks either of which we will defeat.

Houlihan has done some tagging jobs in the past and done well.

ADELAIDE forward Brett Burton is clear to take on Carlton at the Docklands but last weekend’s six-goal hero Jason Porplyzia has a hip complaint and is in doubt.

Burton, 31, hasn’t played since suffering a badly corked buttock in the round-19 loss to Collingwood, but he trained freely on Wednesday and will be available for selection.

Porplyzia missed the Wednesday session but club officials also expect the small forward to play Saturday afternoon.

EVERYONE...... can we please forget about playing Carlos in defense!
He is a fwd, stop stuffing with his mind. We need to settle him down.
We are blessed with tall options.....Hammer comes back in, he and the Krooz alternate between ruck and resting fwd, Carlos CHF, bring in Aussie if we require another tall down back.
Our structure was great prior to the Hammer being injured, why not revert to it?

Good stuff Perc!!

Just wondering mate, you have little faith in Bower or Thornton doing the job on Tippet but are more than happy for Austin to take him on? Bit of a risk IMO. Don't get me wrong, I really rate Aussie and think he will become a star defender for us but ATM he is way too unreliable for mine.

Porpz is in doubt with a hip injury. Missed training today. Burton will play though.

Just watched Ratt's press conference today. He's handling the media pretty well these days.

I must say I love the new more media friendly Carlton of this year. Always lots of news and stories about us (good ones that would be done with the club, rather than the ones just done about us) and weekly mid-week interviews. Well done!

Seems like Ratt's hasn't made his mind up as to whether there will be more than the three 'forced' changes. Or at least he's not telling us about it yet. I think Ando might be wearing the red and white this weekend, but we'll see.

Can't wait for this game. It should be a good hard fought one. a nice precursor to September. Carn the Blues.

Nathan Bock unlikely to play for them. He is a key player for them.

they got a lot of the ball last week the crows with 494 disposal - 297 were handballs - thats a hell of a lot - we were not far behind with 465 disposals and with 253 handballs - decent tackle counts with the crows 73 blues 67

Going by those sort of stats it could be a game of hot potato we will be watching come saturday Arvo

We proved against geelong if you keep the pressure up this handball game is ineffective - I hate to say it but Betts and Garlett would have been handy against this mob going by those stats.

you have got to get in their face and force the turn over - you need to keep numbers forward of the ball otherwise they will suck you down the field before you know it - Its difficult because their defenders are not afraid to leave their man and run off them -dragging them along - Often leads to them have a congested forward line but they stack it with talls and bang it in - Very patient and well drill team - but it is about time we gave them a touch up

..i reckon nowadays the comps getting so even [spread of talent, injuries etc] that it's more matchday tactics and just pressure/work ethic that gets the job done.. ... ..every team is susceptible to pressure, and if one team has it significantly over the other, pencil in the win.. .... ..we play with real intensity and the crows won't be able to play their preferred style..

They should drop Anderson as well. He was hopeless on Robbo last weekend, kept giving Robbo front position. It was a poor performance.
