A very wasteful effort against Melbourne. Too much handball, Only highlights were Garlett goals

Now on to selections for R22 and Finals. Big issues are 3rd tall, so Austin is included.

3rd tall is covered by Kruezer when he drifts forward, We need stronger bodies over the ball, so Bentick could be a smookey. Gartlett is now ahead of Yarran.

Serious consideration should be given to trading Yarran back to WA for Family reasons. e.g Yarran and our First pick for Freo or WCE first pick.

B: Austin Thornton Joseph

HB: Houlihan Bower Scotland

C: Russell Stevens Walker

HF: Simpson O'halpin Gribbs

F: Betts Fevola Kruezer

R: Hampson, Judd, Murphy

Bench: Carazzo, Garlett, Wiggins, Amfield

Emg: Any 3 of Grigg, Cloke, Warnock, Anderson, Browne, Bentick, Yarran, Fisher.

Why "serious consideration to trade Yarran back to WA for family reasons"?

Under the "no two like players in the same team rule". Meaning we should also trade Judd or Murphy. :donk:

What do we need with Betts, Yarran & Garlett. Teams only carry one small forward and maybe a rookie.

there fore Betts and Garlett get the jobs.

None will move into the midfield, they are not hard enough runners, mid field is now set

RR or R - Judd, Murpy, Gibbs, Walker, Simpson, Stevens, even Russell.

Why don't you think Yarran can be a midfielder?

Why can't we have depth in our small forwards?

Do we not need more goal kicking options? From your posts you seem to think Yarran is a crumbing type like Betts/Garlett...he is however far more dynamic. He can crumb as well as being a marking option - lots of Swan Districts supporters say Yarran was great last year playing as a leading forward.

You can never have enough midfielders/runners...don't know how we can say a position is ever set with players...we need to keep adding and developing different types through there.

No reason why Yarran can't get in the middle in the next couple of years...no reason at all.

You don't choose a set group of players and stick with them regardless of who else is pushing for a spot......

I'm going to answer this respectfully caulfield - but I feel like banging my head into a wall!

I don't know if you remember, but when Yarran was drafted the consistent theme from Wayne Hughes and others was that there was a belief in the Carlton brainstrust that Yarran could eventually play onball. The comparisons were made to Shaun Burgoyne. So for a start, the club thinks he can go into a midfield rotation. On top of that, everything we've seen of Yarran indicates that he has great strength overhead. He certainly plays taller than either Garlett or Betts, and I actually wouldn't class him as a small forward (a medium forward maybe, but not a small).

He is not a similar player to either Betts or Garlett other than the fact he is of indigenous descent.

And we'd be absolute mugs to trade him back to WA.

Well I'm immensely confident we'll have a ruckman coming in for Cloke one way or another...

Do we back an existing senior player to take on the Hadley role and inject Yarran after another assist-riddled performance? Grigg sounded like a mixed bag.

Out :- Hadley Anderson
In :- Austin Armfield

The possibility of Warnoch in for Cloke...... but Cloke can backup ruck (just) and play fwd if we need to move tanta back...... but if we need to move tanta back why do we need Austin.

Too many questions. I think i will leave it to the experts.

Not impressed with Cloke in the ruck at all. Setanta was more effective in the 5min he played in the ruck than Cloke was the whole game.

If Hampson isn't fit, then Jacobs or Warnock should come in.

For Hadley, i could see maybe armfield / browne come in.

Dunno, Collingwood are the form side of the comp.. right now they have Dick when fit.. Davis..Medhurst and Didak all playing at the same side...
So why get consider trading the of Yarran after a year??

Yep these would be my changes for the Crows.

Actually after reading todays Bullants report I don't think Grigg should come back in:

Out
- Hadley
- Anderson
- Cloke

In
- Army
- Browne
- Hampson
