Can't complain too much about no REAL changes being made since we are coming off a 54 point win interstate ............

Must say Chief is lucky to keep his spot, and Cloke is lucky Hampson isn't fit............

Nah. He did OK, well enougth to stay in. Butchered a couple but took some nice marks of the contested variety as well.
We need him, like it or not.

I don't care about percentage boosting, or slaughtering Melbourne. I just want the guys to play well, and the systems and plays to be implemented successfully.

That said, if we do play well, we should win comfortably.

I feel that if we take this match too easily, then we could be embarrassed. I don't care what they say about tanking, Melbourne have been playing with vigour and enthusiasm lately, even if their skills are lacking.

I'm a bit disappointed that Jacobs or Warnock didn't come into the team for Cloke. A few claim Cloke played pretty well last week but realisitically it was a typical Cloke game that saw him dropped earlier in the year. He tried hard, took a couple of good grabs but didn't do enough around the ground, didn't kick goals and didn't win enough taps or help us win stoppages to guarantee a place in this Carlton team. Maybe in years gone by but not now.

Lets get real about Cloke's game last week.

Ports poor efficiency by foot saw the ball end up with Cloke for 3 marks. It's not that Cloke positioned himself in the right spot, he was just where he was and Port kicked it to him.

He didn't make anything happen last week. Things just happened.

Very very disappointed to see Cloke ahead of Jacobs and Warnock in the lead up to the finals. I mean, do we want sluggish players in our finals campaign?

Wiggo made so many clangers last week. Fair dinkum, how many of his handballs didn't even make the distance? Heaps I tell you. Yeah he's tough, but he seems to have lost a lot of confidence by hand and foot.

If Hammer isn't right with the back, then good that he's being rested. But this is the game when Warnock should've been introduced...just to find out where he's at and to give him some experience at the AFL pace.

Great Garlett is back, but I was under the impression that Yarran was a class above the rest in the Ants in very windy conditions.

Scratching my head. I suppose the Cloke and Wiggo fans will be happy. They are NOT in our best 22 even with season ending injuries to Waite, Jamison and Robbo. Bad luck Robbo, but a great start to a long career with the Old Dark Navy Blues.

The MC are really confusing me again....ala rounds 3-7 this year when the shit hit the fan. Geez they shit me at times.

Carlton to win (as if there's any other result) and the MC to lose.......me again and a wasted opportunity to start conditioning players we will need to help us win finals.

Cloke and Wiggo.....pffft. They will be chasing tail again, whilst the stars of the team get us over the line.

Give me Ando for his grunt and run ahead of Wiggo anyday.
Give me a ruckman (any ruckman) ahead of the 195cm Cloke anyday.

Ando has nowhere near the 'grunt' as Wiggo. Might have more run but his disposal is no better and probably worse. Ando took a courageous mark against Brisbane 51 weeks ago and that's all we have of him to hang our hats on.
I'm sure he'll be OK but as we all know, he has to push somebody out. He hasn't done it and so be it.
Cloke probably wouldn't be playing if we had the others fit but he is fit and in the right place at the right time.
We'll win regardless.

you guys are missing my point...

playing cloke will obviously make no difference to the result this week ....but the mc are missing a big chance.

I think most of us agree that cloke cannot/should not be in our 22 for week 1 of the finals. we need a ruckman who can compete at the contests and hopefully allow kreuz to drift forward for parts of the game.

If hammo does not come up (which would be a big shame given the progress he has made this year), the next ruckman must either be sauce or warnock....

we wont get any better chance than this week to get one of these guys in the seniors to get used to the tempo and build their confidence against a first year beanpole (ie. spencer).

Why are we missing a big chance?

If the MC don't believe Sauce or 206 are ready then who are we to say otherwise. The MC who spend pretty much 24/7 with the players compared to our possible going to outer suburbia to watch the Bullies in the wind and the rain.

Massive gap between VFL and AFL as has been stated on numerous occassions.

Have a theory on the Wiggler ... having heard his teammates refer to him several times, they give me the impression that he is much loved and cherished by his teammates, they love having him out there. He seems to hold a special place in the playing group. That being the case, his inclusion or omission takes on a whole new dimension for the MC which goes beyond his individual contribution.

They could be leaving him in as a late omission to show that they're giving him every chance to get up from any soreness he may have. We'll see tomorrow whether that's the case I guess.

Either way, the human element and the team psychology is something that us keyboard cowboys have little insight into and therefore underestimate.

Yes,and The Chief and Robbo have that in common. As Robbo can't play now,I believe they need Wiggo as a 100% expression of passion and committment on the field..but also his hardness...with Hdley there as well, the team feels more solid...impenetrable.I like the way they flow with him in.

Here is my take on it all, people on this site whinging at the match committee's decision to play Cloke and Wiggins is crap. We won last week by 54points against a finals contender and both guys although not outstanding played a role in the win. So why change it up for the sake of it.

We are talking about elite football and yeah sure 206 and Sauce migth have more talent than Cloke and Ando might be quicker than Chief but it is the elite level and you don't just hand guys a guernsey for playing ok football.

I have read the reports from the Ants games and neither of these players have been outstanding so why just gift them a spot. Carlton has some serious depth now which is fantastic and it puts pressure on the guys in the 22, but IMO guys should tear it up in the Ants for 2 weeks before they get selected in the Blues line up.

Finally i really don't know why everyone raves about Ando, sure he has got promise but how long has he been on the list now and can't play consistently enough to hold a spot.

From my calculations, a 70 point bulldogs-carlton difference is all that's needed to jump them to 4th spot.

Meaning......................

Bulldogs loose tonight by 30 points or more and we win tomorrow by 70 points or more, we overtake them on percentage!

SMASH EM BLUES!

Same here, a tight 2047 point win will do me.

I've heard Dunn did a more than reasonable job on Pavlich last week.

..Dunn's actually had a good season, doubt he's out of form or favour.. ..more than likely a tankage change, as will the 50% rotation policy durin' the match..

..who ya's reckon to match up on the Jurrah'cane..?.. ..can only think of Bower..
