Nup - there were 2 free slots for him to be elevated prior to Mitch's injury.

I'm a bit disappointed that Jacobs or Warnock didn't come into the team for Cloke. A few claim Cloke played pretty well last week but realisitically it was a typical Cloke game that saw him dropped earlier in the year. He tried hard, took a couple of good grabs but didn't do enough around the ground, didn't kick goals and didn't win enough taps or help us win stoppages to guarantee a place in this Carlton team. Maybe in years gone by but not now.

there really are mixed messages surrounding garlett/yarran

garlett named as emergency in initial squad for adelaide game

then replaced as emergency by yarran in final team

yarran has a blinding first half for the ants and flys to adelaide but doesnt play

garlett named in team the next week.

not the first time we have done weird stuff with the 2 of them when you compare ants form etc

Maybe the MC simply get confused as to which kid is which ..............

maybe they're colour-blind

Maybe they know that Robbo's main role in our side was to provide a bit of defensive pressure within our forward 50, and that Gartlett does that better than just about anyone else on our list. Of course he doesn't do much else but that's another issue.

Lets get real about Cloke's game last week.

Ports poor efficiency by foot saw the ball end up with Cloke for 3 marks. It's not that Cloke positioned himself in the right spot, he was just where he was and Port kicked it to him.

He didn't make anything happen last week. Things just happened.

Very very disappointed to see Cloke ahead of Jacobs and Warnock in the lead up to the finals. I mean, do we want sluggish players in our finals campaign?

Wiggo made so many clangers last week. Fair dinkum, how many of his handballs didn't even make the distance? Heaps I tell you. Yeah he's tough, but he seems to have lost a lot of confidence by hand and foot.

If Hammer isn't right with the back, then good that he's being rested. But this is the game when Warnock should've been introduced...just to find out where he's at and to give him some experience at the AFL pace.

Great Garlett is back, but I was under the impression that Yarran was a class above the rest in the Ants in very windy conditions.

Scratching my head. I suppose the Cloke and Wiggo fans will be happy. They are NOT in our best 22 even with season ending injuries to Waite, Jamison and Robbo. Bad luck Robbo, but a great start to a long career with the Old Dark Navy Blues.

The MC are really confusing me again....ala rounds 3-7 this year when the shit hit the fan. Geez they shit me at times.

Carlton to win (as if there's any other result) and the MC to lose.......me again and a wasted opportunity to start conditioning players we will need to help us win finals.

Cloke and Wiggo.....pffft. They will be chasing tail again, whilst the stars of the team get us over the line.

Give me Ando for his grunt and run ahead of Wiggo anyday.
Give me a ruckman (any ruckman) ahead of the 195cm Cloke anyday.

here we go again....

IMO, match committee got it blatantly wrong for a few weeks in the middle of the season (eg. playing bentley over hads, leaving scotland out etc) and our performances reflected it.

it appears that we have got back on track and they do it again.

I really admire c cloke....apparently a champion bloke and has really got absolutely everything out of his limited ability

But facts are facts...he is too slow to be a forward (cant exert enough pressure in the modern game) and not tall enough or cant jump high enough to contest in the ruck !!!

Given FINALS are just two weeks away, and injury queries over Hamo, we surely had to play either Jacobs or Warnock...even if neither was 100% - we are playing melbourne

Please explain.....

Would you want to go up against saints (ie. gardiner and king) with cloke and kreuz in the ruck....OUCH !

Nice to see Garlett return

MC must expect Hammer to return next week, hence no need to get a game into Sauce. Cloke is slow, and while Sauce is a genuine tap ruck, he isn't any quicker than Clokie. 206 just ain't ready yet, simple as that.

Should be a regulation 7 goal win, with Dees in full tank mode, and after all, they only beat Freo last week

Yeah I agree that Hammer must be ready to go but they have decided to give him another week and thus the Cloke selection. I'm sure common sense will prevail again after the Melb game and Cloke will make way...I agree in not selecting Warnock for now. He would be just too under done to be considered and I reckon it will Hammer and Krueze going into the Adelaide game and finals with Warnock and Jacobs there for injuries only.

I love you Clokey....and you too Chief.
here Budzy...you see a classic case of Negative Nancyism, and pure Naysayering.
'Nuff said?
Honestly though...I think these two guys in particular deserve another week to find their rhythm in the A team.
I hope they both have blinders.
it would be very satisfying.
I'm sure there is plenty of time in the future for Joey...and others that people are talking about too.

When Cloke is hungry he plays to the peak of his ability and his deficiencies don't become that obvious....but after 4 or 5 games I reckon he tapers off....I think he played quite well last week, took some good contested marks.

Development shouldn't be our priority when we are sitting 5th and have a shot at top 4.

I'm happy enough with Jacobs progress and hopeful Warnock will turn out but I'd choose Cloke at this point in time above a Rookie ruck and a 206 who has only played 3 reserves games this year...Cloke isn't part of our next flag but he is IMO the best fit in these circumstances.

Thought Wiggo had a good game last week ... yeah his hand and foot skills let him down but he seemed to be in the right place at the right time to take a few goal saving marks against port. Saying that as much as I love his hardness and his true blue heart it is difficult to see him as a regular in the side .... but truly worthwhile as a depth player .. we must keep him on the list. Also the team has played a lot harder with him in the side ... coincidence ... dunno :?:

Do not like to bad mouth players but just do not see a spot for Cloke ... just looks out of his depth .... too slow as a forward, crap as a ruck, does not read the play effectively. Would like to see him traded or something to give him an opportunity somewhere else cause I like him but he just does not belong on our list ... will probably put in a blinder against the dees to spite me but that will just prove a point ... he's great when it does not count and goes missing when it matters.

Proven way too many times to be on the list going forward.

Sorry Clokey.

Fair enough.

Cloke's the fittest available.

I wonder what's happening with Austin? Players can't afford to be injured at Carlton these days.

Yeah I hope Chief and Clokey have blinders too.

I don't really mind Chief going into finals, because I've always believed that's what he on the list for, but never given the opportunity. He's all courage but lean skills.

I just want every player selected to know he is keeping another good player out of the first 22. For this reason I couldn't stand to see any player not playing at their best 100% of the time in the Navy Blue jumper.

Carlton by 80 points

Fev may kick his first bag of 10

Please win by more boys...100+ would be nice for percentage.

We need to absolutely slaughter them. The % could end up making the vital difference to ladder position at the end of next week's round 22 games. This is our last shot at a huge boost as that Crows game should be a ripper. GO for it boys!
