Good record? Everyone had a good record against us between 2002-07, except we somehow found ways to beat Collingwood and Essendon* resonably regularly.

We beat Melbourne comfortably last year, and lost to them twice in 07, in games I would read little into (maybe the first one was somewhat legit, but the 2nd was not).

We may not win by 10,000 points, but we will win. It will depend on the start if Melbourne show some kind of interest early, they could stick with us, but ensure they have some kind of honourable 3-4 goal loss. But if the start off slowly with no intensity (as bottom sides at the end of a season can do, tanking or not), it could be a very nice percentage booster.

..picks 1 & 2 are far too important.. ..we made sure we got our losses, and so will they..

Great to see Jeff back in.

Id've played Warnock in this game.

Can't complain too much about no REAL changes being made since we are coming off a 54 point win interstate ............

Must say Chief is lucky to keep his spot, and Cloke is lucky Hampson isn't fit............

I'd rather play Jacobs than Cloke

there really are mixed messages surrounding garlett/yarran

garlett named as emergency in initial squad for adelaide game

then replaced as emergency by yarran in final team

yarran has a blinding first half for the ants and flys to adelaide but doesnt play

garlett named in team the next week.

not the first time we have done weird stuff with the 2 of them when you compare ants form etc

For young blokes it's just a week by week thing.

Perhaps JG has simply trained better than CY this week.

Late change: Yarran in for ??? ... I'd like to see that.

Never ever take anything for granted.

Saints were dead set guaranteed to win last week as well...

Oh I dunno. Watch the strange matchups all in the name of young player education. Watch the Melbourne interchanges dry up by half for the match as Carlton runs them off their feet.

Melbourne beating Carlton on the weekend would be a tragedy for the club and on that basis they will do everything they can not to win.

Of course there's always the slim chance that they could prevail.. But it would mean a dark day for the dees if they did.

Glad to see Jeff back; he's been in great form.

Would prefer Cloke out of the team but it won't cost us this game and Hammer's fitness is obviously not quite up to scratch for a finals tilt. Ditto Warnock.

EDIT: Grammerz

i heard on monday that wiggins was sore after the port game. . Anyone else heard this? Maybe he'll be a late omission for yarran?

It'd be fun to see yarran, eddie, garlett and juddy all at the feet of fevola lol. . .

I can see a half dozen game ending injuries for Melbourne should they be in front at 3/4 time. Bailey's press conference will consist of "the substitution trial in the NAB cup has merit"...

I wonder whether its because Gartlett could not play last week because of insufficent room on the senior list and someone forgot? - Robbo out for the season now creates a place???
