i think we should all put our differences aside and get behind the Prez, the board, the coaches and the players and march on as one into the finals and see how far we can go as one tight unit.

So... Ratts is bad, we have no game plan, we dont develop the kids.... blah, blah, blah.

We are sitting 5th with a decent chance at top 4 after not playing finals since 2001. How people still can harp about Ratts etc. is beyond me. Mission is accomplished even if we go out in straight sets. Next year we will be top 4 with a crack at the flag. Can't ask for more or you are completely unreasonable.

Chip chip .. out the window ... tick...
Too many talls in defence.... out the window.. tick...
More players with grunt and not looking for chip chip .. tick...
More direct football.... tick...
Russell running and bouncing.... tick...

Same list who arent shit.... tick...
Same ages ... tick...

Yeah im happier....

Our extra run from defence stands out like dogs balls, makes us a much better team

You cant run out of defence with so many talls.... thats why teams dont play with 4 or 5 tall defenders...ctually not just that.. but the defensive and offensive spread is hard...

Its like an English back 4 in football of Terry Butchers

Have agreed with you all along on that one Synbad. Too many talls down back for too long. We will probably be better in the long run from doing that but we could have had more wins had we not.

Do we keep a spare (Austin) on the bench for insurance? I wouldnt. Id roll the dice. Wig, Walks or Russ can step up if required. Ohalphin if all else fails.

Club , i actually think we will need to just be as mobile as possible.
We could handball and generate run today.
Thats the way we need to play.
Thats how the forward line will ultimately open up.

Players will have to be left out... and when that happens youre a good side.

Hurley was great for Essendon* today... but we didnt need him...
Turning Y into a very good footballer is more important to our particular mix...

Yep

Armfield and Bower (and Waite when fit) are the only players at CFC who have consistently given us run and daring from defense. They make things happen.

I have not once undervalued the importance of Armfield in 2009. The signs were there in 2008.

Speed is the key imo. If you can height and maintain speed, you are one deadly weapon.

IMO we don't really have 'slow' talls.

Jamison Thornton Bower Waite Austin Setanta....but they're not as fast as Armfield and Walker.

We don't need 4 talls in the backline.

Yes i am all over what you are saying. We need the defence to be mobile and move it quick by hand and foot the moment they get it so they dont get stuck behind the zone. Once stuck that is when we get the chip chip. Which in itself isnt the worse tactic once stuck. Key for us is not to get stuck.

The coach and the players need to grow into this though. Need to get stronger to stand up in tackles, need to get experience to choose the right options and need to get mentally strong to deal with things as they happen and not get bogged down by errors.

We all want what you want out of the team. Most of us think Ratts is the man to develop this style of play in time.

PS :- Notice Williams take his players to the fans at 3/4 time. Laughable coaching.

Which is quite funny as the Carlton fans made more noise

Williams has a problem... the team is in decline..

Laughable it is.. but he has been at the MCG 2 times on the last day of September... one time leaving with the prize...

All this with whilst being under resourced...

Never laugh at a champion... instead watch what youre doing...

Another pleasing day at the office for Ratts. The plan seems be coming together now. Still would like to see more experience brought into the coaching box during the off season.

The competition is a bit of a rabble..

If you have some really good players.. and they know what theyre doing anything can happen and you should be going ok...

I shudder to think what will happen to the comp when GC come in and then Sydney... i believe there is a low spread of talent throughout the AFL...

Can I just say that as much as I love Bower, his hand balling to players make me EXTREMELY NERVOUS.

IMO Bower is a better player when playing on a big forward. Sure, he’ll lose the odd one-on-one like he did against Mooney last week, but he gives us more run, whereas when he’s on a smaller forward he seems to go into his shell a little and play too defensively.

..yeah, that's one flaw of his i haven't been happy with either, and it's a bad habit cos he did it last year as well.. ..they tend to float in the air, as if he lobs them in slo-mo to team-mates..

On that we can agree...Yarran succeeding is vital for us in taking the next step

Hurley met a need just not as high a priority as the role Yazz can play for us. An elite kicking tall down back would certainly help with the kick-ins and rebounding. Areas we still need to improve in.

For the sake of peace in our time I can handle...well maybe he can coach, but he is just a slow learner, rather than... "He isnt up to it and wont be up to it..."
