Just another team that's gotten so used to us being a poor unit they've actually come to believe it was all about their superiority.

News flash - we were shit; we're not any more.

Carlton to win by the rate of Chad's cranial expansion

"cranial expansion" Thats classic

Would really like to see Garlett back in but not sure at who`s expense(possibly Robbo or Wiggo). With his pace and pressure he would suit the wide spaces of Footy Park.

The key against Port is to put pressure on them and hit them hard at every opportunity.....they will wilt quickly have no doubt.....we will win comfortably.

..port are wanna-be tuffs, will try and 'intimidate' the odd player, but have no nads in playing hard for the ball, only their 'targeted main'.. ..just play hard, desperate footy after the ball and they'll panic.. ..off-field they're a shambles, and we know well enough how much of a distraction that is, plus all the talk of choco vs his team, and i reckon we'll give them a mighty belting at home in front of all their ferals, and our true blues..

..the Gibblet to play his best game yet, in front of family and friends..

A lot of confidence on the site.

Do remember they have 8-1 record at home. Mind you of these wins the only one against a top 8 side (not Adelaide) is Brisbane. They have not played Cats, Dogs, Pies, Blues and when they played the Saints they were embarassed.

It will be a tough game and if we can get out with a win, we should be extremely happy with that.

I am far more confident about the Crows in 3 weeks than this one.

So The Chad's calling out Fevola... normally I'd be worried that Fev might be silly enough to get distracted from the job at hand but I think this might work the other way this time and will create a pumped up Fevola who is hungry for a bag of goals.
With Setant being an added genuine forward option this time around I see Fev being able to get some space on AAMI with less attention and doing a number on The Chads.

I tend to agree with you Budzy. I think Fev has matured a lot this year and he's smarter than that now. In saying that, I don't think he'll be too worried about using the knees this Sunday though

Whilst I agree with all the "we should win" sentiments, there are a few games we should have won this season, but didn't. That comes with a young, inexperienced playing group & coach along with a gameplan that isn't yet drilled into them. We're very inconsistent and we can go from playing at a high intensity and being very hard-at-it (vs Geelong, St Kilda, Hawks), to being static and distinctly average (Collingwood recently, patches throughout many games). Port are similar, in that they're inconsistent. They can go from looking like a real challenger to being terrible. I think if we come to the game with the right mindset and take the game on, we will be hard to beat. I'm not ruling out Port winning though, as a drop in intensity by us could be met by an increase by them.

My tip: Carlton by 30 points. I think last week will teach the boys a lesson about sustained intensity and the rewards you reap by playing with it - but as has been the case, I can also see us being flat and off our game (the opposite of last week). Port, being a mixed bag, could surprise or could be crap.

Fingers crossed we win, but I'm not particularly confident. Our squad needs to develop a more level-headed mentality to cope with expectations and being favourites/rated highly, and this week will show how they're going in that regard. Should be a straightforward win, could be something else.

After last week's game, intensity wise, the 9 day break will come in handy.

Blues by 1,354,654pts

im happy to see someone beat me to identifying the port home record, and who they've beaten there.

Richmond (on the siren)
hawks
Melbourne
Freo
West coast
Essendon*
Brisbane

One top 8 team. . . Who they beat at home, we've beaten that same team at home and away in the past 2years. . .

throw in the LOSSES (in melbourne, but still) against melbourne, north, and a loss in freo they're beyond being called a sh*t team.

start of the year i had them 11th on my predictive ladder and im not far off that mark as to where they're truly at. . . Shaun burgoyne, chad cornes, brad 'bighead' ebert, and daniel 'melbourne wouldnt have me back' motlop have got to be amongst the biggest pretenders in the AFL. . In the same league as monfries, trav cloke, and the shaws. . .

As for the match itself, we'll win comfortably. . About 5 or 6goal win. I've wondered about who to play at AAMI. . Is aussie fit? Does clokey deserve a shot? I think wiggins coming in for aussie last week did nothing wrong, as usual he didnt star, but we know simon wiggins by now and what he'll offer. . Heart, toughness and effort. . . the two weeks prior to friday against the cats i'd had the hammer and scotland on my personal radar as i felt both were just struggling along, but both were very good against the cats. . .

Barring injury, i'd remain unchanged. . .if anyone is injured i'd put in austin for a mid/small. . And cloke for a key position type.

Im headed over to adelaide for the match tomorrow night. . Cant wait to watch the fevola show!

I'm praying that we win as its my first ever trip to a Carlton game outside of Victoria.

However, I'm tipping Power by 29. :banghead:

I dont understand why everyone is so cocky, yeah they were terrible against Freo but theyve been almost unbeatable at home and shocking away all year. Underestimate them at your own peril. Remember that we are young and developing and hence prone to inconsistency. In that case I hope we play like we did on friday night this week and put in a not so good performance against the Dees but still get over the line.

Its going to be a tough game and theres a good chance the new Ratten thread will reach 100 pages before we take on Melbourne (i.e we might lose). If we bring our A game I think we can knock them off but it wont be easy. Ill put my faith in the boys finally stringing two great games in a row and winning by 3 goals

The nar nar goon u-18's could play freo, richmond, west coast, melbourne, and Essendon* at home and look unbeatable.

I know that the past few times i've gotten cocky we've capitulated (Essendon* and collingwood) but port adelaide are no better than richmond. . I truly believe that in my heart. . .yes, at home they become a better team, but there's more in-fighting at alberton at the moment than at a spice girls reunion.

Ill offer ANY odds to ANYONE who wants to bet that port will beat us. . .we'll spank them.
