Happy to see Kernahan see out the season. But if he doesn't do the right thing and actively seek out a better option at year's end, I'll be very disappointed.
The fact that whenever there's an informal President's meeting about an issue (such as stadium deals) and the Bulldogs send their President, and Collingwood and Essendon* and Hawthorn send their Presidents, and we send Greg Swann... should tell you all you need to know about Sticks' capabilities.
Great players don't always make great coaches.
Great onfield leaders don't always make great off-field leaders.
It's about time all Carlton people (including the well-meaning old ducks in the social club) saw Sticks as a great ex-player, a great ex-captain, but simply not good enough to be an effective club President.
That doesn't mean being disloyal to the man, or sullying his reputation, or any crap like that. But as Harry Callahan once said... "a man's gotta know his limitations."
I'm totally fine with looking for a new president with a bit more gravitas, but I would have thought that Sticks sending Swann to these meetings actually does indicate he knows his limitations
I'm sure he'll step aside sooner rather than later when someone else actually puts there hand up when all this testing of the waters is finished
