Last week on On The Couch Sheahan said Judd would not be in his All Australian team. Healy almost spewed up and so do I.
Seems that a lot can change in one week.

He did need the qualification from Gerard that 6 midfielders would get into the AA team. From that I assumed that he was not in Mikes first 3-4.
Absolute bananna.

No he didn't

I'm pretty sure he did, did I miss something? Could have sworn that Healy ended the show saying Sheahan should re-think his all Australian team.

He did say that he would be in his AA team once Healy said that 6 mids would be in the AA team, suggesting that Judd would not be in Mikes first 3-4 mids at the moment. Both Healy and Hird were bewildered that Mike even had to think about it, I get the feeling that it was a topic the pair had discussed off air and were off oposing views. Maybe that was why Mike had a bit better look at Judd on friday night and realized that stat's don't alway tell the story. 25+ touches from Judd makes a much bigger impact than 35+ touches from Ablett, which I get the feeling Healy was trying to tell Mike.

Diesel still the best I've seen. Judd very close though, best player in the comp currently. Ablett is still an exceptional player but Judd is ....... well Judd-like!!! The thing that stood out to me the other night was that Judd was rarely out of the contest. Ablett had a shocker, one of his worst. AJ is to be congratulated because he wore him like Billy Brownless' orange lycra jumpsuit!! Ling tried hard on Judd but doesnt have the pace to go with Judd when he takes off.

My question on AA is nothing to do with Judd, he is a lock and probably Captain to boot. Is Gibbs a chance to make AA? Gibbsy's game was very reminiscent of Diesel. Always looked to have plenty of time on the ball (except for the time he was caught) and used the ball extremely well.

The article should have been called, "Judd regains spot as best player in the comp after a brief interruption by Gary Ablett"

If it were true.

I've never rated Ablett better than Judd. Judd does more in 25 touches than Ablett does in 40. It's just a whole lot more obvious to fluffers like Sheahan when Ablett gets 25 instead of 40.

It's why Greg Williams is still the best midfielder I've seen (though Wayne Johnston's still my favourite). Williams was more damaging than Judd AND regularly picked up 40 touches. Ablett's no Judd and he's miles away from Diesel.

I was thinking about Diesel too when I was reading the article - Diesels hand and foot skills were superior to Judd as was his ability to get to the right spots and his vision. Diesels value was always his ability to include teammates and give them the footy precisely in the right spot to give them maximum advantage

Judd has superior pace and strength - is much better gut runner than Diesel was and is more of an imposing presence - he also includes his teammates but also has the ability to break the lines with his speed.

Both awesome players who leave me slack jawed when I see them at their best

Diesel had an amazing ability to enter a pack, find the footy, remove it from the oppostion dispose of it and break the opponents jaw in the process. He was a magician.

Judd is an incredible athlete with brilliant forsight. He instinctively runs straight, he rarely deviates. When you watch him closely, you see that he alway ends up running hard and straight for the goals.

Well, when we celebrate our 150th anniversary in a few years time I suspect you might get your wish.

My wish is that we get a Premiership to help celebrate.

G. Ablett and S. Johnson are absolute frontrunners. When Geelong is firing at their very best these two absolutely kill you. However, when Geelong is struggling it is these two who go missing first.

  to JR and AJ for killing them on friday.

I think Murphy has what it takes to be a similar player to Gary Ablett.

Great lateral movement, creative in the 50 and a real goer. Probably doesn't have as strong a core, especially in the hips and thighs, but skills and mindset aren't far off.

Surpassed ablett you say???

Just keeping the seat warm for the champ while he battled a debilitating groin injury and wasnt being looked after by his new teammates like he was at the weagles. We Are slowly learning to protect him more.

Surpassed ablett pfffffft!!!
