Wiggo wasn't dropped IIR. He was injured or suspended and then got a soft tissue injury in the Ants. If he is better than most of the forward options on current form he should get a guernsey. Otherwise not.
Age has nothing to do with it.
He's 27 and could play on for several years based on age alone.
History shows us that if we want to win finals we will need a mix of youth and experience, inside and outside players and a bit of luck. We don't have much experience in the team atm.

Would dearly love to see the Chief come back.
I'm sure he'd play his guts out...lift the team.
He definitely has it in him.

Whilst Blue Sombrero you are right on the basis of the announced team changes, Wiggo was surely very close to being dropped in any case given two very ineffective games at half forward.

He began with a bang with 20+ possies (so did everyone) and then I thought was very good as the lead-up until about Round 5 or 6, but then dropped away pretty quick. It was about that time that the Hun talked him up as one of the main lead-up targets in the game, second only ti Riewoldt from memory.

The article was prior to the Round 5 game against the Doggies. In that game Wiggo presented well, missed a few marks, took a great mark leading up to the boundary line (sticky fingers...it was a bullet pass). IMO he was dropped a peg or two from round 3 against the Bumbers. He really stuggled after the that and was an the verge of being dropped the same weekend as he was injured.

Everyone would love to see the same Wiggo from the first 2 rounds and preseason. I thought this was going to be his year and posted as such before the season started. I hope he comes back and helps out with the finals campaign, but doubt it.

Save him for the finals, then if we make the GF he can be our Shane Ellen ;)

The team just feels more solid, and balanced with him in.
I love The Chief, and really hope he stays.
its good to play the younger kids too,but from here on end we need consistency, and tons of heart.

If we make the finals with no more injuries, should Wiggo play in the 1st final?

A fit Wiggins is in our best 22 - easily.

I suspect that in the fierce heat of a finals match, Wiggins no-prisoners approach would be needed.

Right now I'd say Wiggo is in my best available 22 (only subtracting Waite not Jamo);

FF: Eddie Betts – Brendan Fevola - Heath Scotland
HF: Simon Wiggins – Setanta O’hAilpin – Andrew Carrazzo
C: Nick Stevens - Bryce Gibbs - Kade Simpson
HB: Paul Bower – Bret Thornton - Ryan Houlihan
FB: Jordan Russell – Michael Jamison - Aaron Joseph
RU: Matthew Kreuzer – Marc Murphy - Chris Judd
IC: Shaun Hampson - Mitch Robinson - Mark Austin - Dennis Armfield
EM: Richard Hadley - Shaun Grigg - Cameron Cloke

If you include Jarrad, I'd move Setanta into the pocket, Waite at CHF, Scotland to the HFF, Wiggins out of the team. A team with character always possesses players of Wiggins' ilk. I recall back before I left the country for my career in the USA that we all wanted to delist Wiggo. Now the argument isn't so much whether or not Wiggo is good enough to be on the list but whether a player of his type is required.

I personally love Wiggo. He's always given it his all, he's a tremendous example to younger players and is underrated.

Wiggins was pretty poor on the weekend and hasn't played a good game for a looong time. If he can recapture his early season form next week there's probably a spot for him but otherwise he's a liability.

For the record Wiggo is my fave so Id definately have him in the side but gee no walker in either of those - We must be stronger that we all knew given he cant get a run.

Love the Wiggler.

Tho he still needs to work on his kicking skills and also be able to drill a couple of clutch goals, as Carrots has shown this season it is never too late...
