Makes a big difference when both Houla and Wiggo are in the team....

There are some more than hideous scars over the past 7 years my friend - I am glad for Wiggo that he played in this winning side tonight - doesnt erase totally erase the scar of him actually touching Ricardi's miracle kick for goal in 2002  - but last night was like a good bowl of chicken soup, it couldnt hurt.

Isnt it a great feeling when you have a good win on Friday night and you have the whole weekend to feel good about it. Last night was the best 4 qrt effort for the year and we played as a team. Great coaching by Ratten. A few results have gone our way today so lets hope we finish the year off well and at least get a home final.
Go Blues.

Well I am still ticking all the boxes:

- Carlton Wins - tick.

- POMS are getting shellacked - tick.

- Kids have won their finals - tick.

- And wont be hearing from the Trollster's Trollster for a long time - tick.

It doesnt get any better than that.

Whadda game of Football. That's the Carlton I like ! Relentless pressure, and hard at the body.

Well done Blue Boys, well played, well coached and well executed....

I only wish milburn could've suffered more pain than a simple rolled ankle - like a nice, good old-fashioned shirtfront!

And geelong have loads of great frontrunners, only playing well when they're winning.

Which is around 60 weeks of the last 66 isn't it...

So makes the win even sweeter

Bastard. :P I was there in 1996, but the new museum only opened up last year. It looks fantatsic! Glad you enjoyed it.

Not sure what your movements are now, but the new Porsche museum opened in Stuttgart earlier this year and that looks bloody good too.

I just watched the game again and what was pleasing is that there were heaps of players who, at first may have seemed like they didn't have much impact, but they actually played pretty solid games.

Betts, Kreuzer, Hoops and AJ were a few that stood out the second time around.

First chance I've had at the computer since the game and i'd like to say it was Bloody Fantastic.

What a game and what an effort by the boys to win. They really worked hard, physically pressured Geelong and didn't allow Geelong to play the way they would want to.

It was great to see us win, and great seeing so many of the positives..
People giving Judd chopouts, and Judd looking fighting fit.
Walker looking so much better in his second game back.
JR being an absolute star of Stevie Johnson.
Thornton playing more and more like the defensive general he can be. And some of those spoils were SOS like. He was close to BOG with Gibbs and Judd.
Gibbs really stepping up. As was in his interview last week and on the tele after the game, he really did lift the intensity.
AJ did a number on Ablett. Backed up his preseason effort. Ablett is going to start not looking forward to playing us. And how good was AJ's goal!!

It's two days later and I'm still pumped after this win. Can't wait to play finals, and hopefully we can lock that in this weekend against Port.

Just watched the game again - some points to consider:
1. Our pressure and persistence was excellent
2. Geelong choked. They have the chance to nail critical goals in the last quarter and they missed them. Lady luck sure smiled on us but the harder you work the luckier you get (this happened last week as well)
3. Bryce Gibbs is very special. To watch the amount of time he appeared to have in traffic was amazing.
4. Fev worked his arse off and so good to see, just a shame he didn't kick straight.
5. Our footskills are sill poor over all. There were some highlights but the up and unders, kicks over Eddie Betts' head (lost count of those) and kicks so wide of the target. An area for focus for sure.
6. Great to see the confidence to see players running ahead of the ball, anticipating team mates being successful.

Great positive signs for the next couple of weeks.

..yeah, have watched the win a few times too, and what stood out for me was the blocking that players were putting on for each-other all across the ground..

its disappointing that some regular posters on TC still haven't come online to share the joy. i guess its no fun when you cant bag the gameplan or JR.

i'm a happy camper. its bloody great to barrack for carlton!!

im a happy camper too.

and didnt have the urge to vent.

but... all of a sudden our side wasnt too young... it wasnt too inexperienced.... ratts had the cattle...

but they were allowed to attack and move the ball swiftly to fevola....

we didnt @#$%&! around with the footy... we didnt have too many players playing a purely lockdown role... and we rolled the dice on a few occasions...

so we did what some of us believe suits how we should play...

i had a great weekend!!!....

Now the trick is to not go back to being overly defensive and overly cautious ...

just goes to show its not the list...but how we utilise the list...

Is it any wonder we get frustrated with this mob. We bring our A-game against Geelong and the Aints, attack and play without fear, yet dish up shite against trash like Essendon*, Collingwood and close wins over bottom-dwellers. Is it the message they're sent before the game, or their own natural preparation to be 'careful' against the crap?

Essendon* & Collingwood line ups had a bit more toe/pace than on the night. We struggle a little against pace. We need to recruit a bit more speed

As much as I hate to be seen agreeing with Donstuie, he's spot on with the Pies and Bummers games, pace had nothing to do with it, intensity had everything. You don't get beaten by ten goals if you turn up to play, the gulf between the teams is not that big. As for the close wins over bottom dwellers.....who gives a toss? Last time I checked, a win's a win's a win.

How did I know that somewhere in his first post following friday night's triumph, he'd make some comment along the lines of us playing the way Synbad said we should play. So all of a sudden, when our young inexperienced list put together a 4qtr effort against quality opposition, he insinuates it's all his doing.

So predictable........

As predictable as his "the sky is falling" propaganda, when we fall back to conservative fottball, that will likely occur at some stage before the season is out (as is often the way with young lists).

That might be a bit harsh lucablue...

What Synbad was essentially saying was that we played reactive footy and it was holding us back. Friday night showed us how much better off we are when the players are allowed to play more of an attacking game. Instinctive footy suits younger players more IMHO because it gives them less time to panic, and helps their confidence grow as opposed to getting smashed.

Instinctively most players a very good, that's why they are in the system.
