..brilliant game, and dare i say it?, brilliant coaching.. ..every single match-up to our advantage, even the betts/harley pairing, just those lobbed high balls to edwardo were a bit dissappointing, but 4 assists and great defensive pressure from edwardo and fwd team-work to keep him as about as accountable as i've seen harley in a long time..

.. ..thorny's just doing a mountain of work down back, has definately become the general we've needed.. ..i was really impressed with not just our tackling and intensity/pressure [just brilliant], but we physically took it up to the cats [a seasoned side of veterans], weren't intimidated at all and were often playing with controlled aggression.. .good signs right across the board, no passengers, every player had an impact during the game....

just got back from celebratory drinks, not going to stay online very long cose I am running to the replay!

the best win we've had since the 01 season, we are truly back folks.

a phenemonal team effort and just wanted to give special mention to russell, armfield, joseph, houlihan, hampson and o'hailpin.
these players are either much maligned or are the raw, green talent that we need stepping up to go forward.
it's made my weekend and am just so very proud of the boys.

on a side note, rohan connolly was sitting in front of me doing commentary. he laughed when geelong kicked the second goal of the match, saying it was going to be a long night......HA.
when the siren went and he walked past me, i let out a DA-DADA-DADA like no other. such joy.

anywho, enough of the sore winning, enjoy the win TC!

Go The Mighty Blues!

This was the sort of game that our little tanks like Armfield, Joseph, Wiggins & Russell were made for. We pressured them out of the game and at times we made them look stupid, which is a nice turnaround.

It was lovely seeing Milburn and Mooney having a good old sook on the bench while their boys were going down.

Have to say at the beginning of the week thought we were gonna get smashed. Was just hoping to protect our percentage. A 25 point loss was a win in my books.

But during the week reading a lot of people's positive posts, I started to believe we were in with a chance.

By the start of the match (as always) I was pumped.

After the first 5 minutes, I was thinking c'mon boys not the slow start business again ... but that was it. After that it was just great football to watch. Yes we are still raw but when we play with that unbridaled passion well ... we saw the results tonight.

Thank you boys ... we know u r young and u will have ur ups and downs but just do us the favour of playing with that intensity and I for one will never be upset at you again. All we ask is pride in our magnificent guernsey ... best one in the comp!

Life is hard at the moment so have to say thanks for the sunshine my beloved blueboyz!

The skills were amazing. Some passages of play were A+.

Thornton was a gun down back, best game I have seen Russell play, Armfield improving every week plus great games from our leaders in Judd and Gibbs and co....just a lot of positives.

I don't think I've ever been as happy to have dropped a tip, especially a Friday night one.

First of all let me say that I was rapt we won and I was there to see it with all my Geelong buddies.

I had a feeling we would play well and to win by 35 points is terrfic

The best things were
our run and defensive pressure

Its what wins games these days. We knew we had to up it from previous weeks.
we took the game on
Its really important that we carry this momentum into the last 3 weeks of the season unlike the aints game where we went into our shells.

The form of Russell was fantastic bar a couple of clangers. Great effort.
And Hampson was good. Best game he has played
Our defense was terrific.

Now dont get me wrong.
I am rapt we beat Geelong
We won by 35 points
awesome

and Geelongs record is awesome

But Geelong shoould be 100 to 1 to win the flag
They are gone
Why
Injuries
Their 3 most important players
Scarlett the best fullback in the league
Johnson should not have played the only guy that can really hurt you on the scoreboard
Chapman almost as good as SteveJ

We came with a positve mindset tonight and beat a team that was hanging on a thread

2 ruckman over one helps as well.
Ottens has been a huge loss.

In my view we should have been favourites for this game given how Geelong have played the last month

When Chapman pulled out I reckon we were almost certainties

As for bomber playing Lonegan the whole night on Fev weak as piss and Harley and that prick Milburn should count their lucky stars they were not asked to do the job. Shit coaching.

A bit of common sense here. Dont get 2 carried away guys. Got to back it up next week.
We played a very banged up side tonight

Can't agree more. Last night's win will be for almost nothing if we put in a pissweak performance next week.

I've can't believe nobody has mentioned Setanta trying to claim that mark in the goal square. That was gold.

Last night was one of those nights when everything goes your way....@#$%&! it felt good!

The standouts for me where Bower and T-Bird, they repelled everything.....

Gibbs 1st half was A++++++++++++++ (He also bought something off me on ebay)

Joseph did not look tired tonight :)

Nor did Kruezer

Walkers kicking was sensational for someone who should be rusty as all hell......very very pleasing.

Hadley found some long lost form, althouh his kicking lacks penetration badly and that's not going to change now..hanball handball handball..

Hammer is looking more and more natural in the AFL scene...... :smoking:

Army showed great intensity and touch at important times.

Judd

Even Wiggler was servicable!

Go Blues!!!!!!!!!!

Good Carlton showed up to play last night which was a delight to watch.

Good intensity as a team. Good running and spread. Good positive footy on the big stage.

I think he was just stunned into inaction that it ended up in his mitts.

Excellent first half. Thanks for asking.
I never have said he lacks skill in finding where to get the ball or how to dish it off in traffic.

He has improved in the last 6 weeks or so in the areas I mentioned.

I dont think i was wrong in saying he wasnt a star. he still has some way to go.

And you should have asked me that question last week. I hought he was better then

Psssssst! Melvey's been banned

Let's not hang crap on the negative Nellies just now. They had (have?) concerns and are entitled to express them. Sometimes maybe they just don't know when to give ground, or give up.

Let's just bask in the best win we've had for a while, and dare to dream a bit.

We're all Carlton here, remember.....

F%^& the rest!
