He'll be fine methinks. Has the tools and when it clicks for him he will go from 0 to 100 quicker than a porsche 911.

I think the difference in his involvement from his first two games to the last couple (even though he did little) was noticible. He's played 4 games, and whilst Rich and Ziebell may have shown more to date, they have as on-ballers a greater opportunity to shine. Yarran is playing one of the hardest spots on the ground (forward pocket) in terms of consitent opportunity to be involved in play, has had a shortened pre-season, the challenge of leaving home me (which different players respond to differently), and some apparent family challenges.

The glimpse he showed with the goal against Sydney and a couple of fairly well weighted kicks indicate teh talent is there. Be patient and be confident people...

Good work BS

I'm confident in Yarran. Tons o talent

I just don't believe he's loyal at the moment. By that I mean he's not yet brainwashed as a Carltonian for life because he has been at the club or the city for less than a year.

Success breeds loyalty...but then you think of Headland...WA aboriginal who won a flag at Brizzy.

I'm confident in his talent and glad Bettsy and Garlett are their too...and 1AW too....his Carlton brotherhood.

If he likes the idea of the 17th Flag then he'd stick around. One club player sounds nice too.

12:10 rule might see him miss the game. Not too big a deal after having an unscheduled week off.

Sorry Jim but that's even more reason why he should play.
You dont leave out players on the fringe of senior selection. Unless he's carrying a fatigue injury, Yarran needs consistent game time at the highest practicable level.

Depending on his condition?

14 Carlton-listed players in the squad, 12 listed on-field, 2 on the bench:
Hartlett
Browne
Bentley
Grigg
Bannister
Fisher
Cloke
Wiggins
Warnock
Garlett
Jacobs
Bentick
Anderson - bench
Yarran - bench

I suspect only a late withdrawl would save him at this point. I'm not too fussed about it this week. The things he needs to do need to happen off the field, mostly on a treadmill.

Posted on the pre game thread that Cloke will come in for Carlos.

And now he should get a game. ;)

As an aside - anyone know what was wrong with Austin?

EDIT: General soreness..

Andy Maher also did a rant about Blues supporters getting off his back about not picking Rich over Yazz.

Me thinks Andy M is a TCer.

well if Leon Davis is any rule to go by, we need to be patient.

I've seen enpugh glimpses to know he has the X factor. As the article points out, he's facing the reality of having to work hard for the first time in his football career and will take time.

The thing I find most hard to swallow is that he isn't not performing. It's not like the fears people had with JR when in his first season it was hard to see why he was drafted at all let alone first round. He's turned on the magic a few times and kicked a few goals, regularly been in the votes in the VFL and earned selection a few times. His output has been the equal of Robbo at least, and Robbo is 18 months older, and I'd argue he has shown as much as Gibbs did in his first season. It all comes down to the fact that Rich was picked the selection after us, people are letting their view of Rich cloud their analysis of Yarran. It's amazing to see how emotional people have got over the whole situation, so much so that some have called for his delisting, so many fwits support this club honestly.

..fair enough, and good point.. ..i guess if Rich wasn't such a standout [so far] i mightn't be as 'jumpy'.. ..but for me, my jumpiness came about not so much cos of rich, but more from other posters saying we need 'x' amount of years before we get good return etc etc, and i reckon _any_ kid that takes quite a few yrs to play good isn't top ten material, and i still think that.. ..am just hoping Yaz comes on sooner, rather than later..

..we're so emotional cos i reckon after all the dark days, we're hungry for competitive finals action, and the faster our young kids come on, and longer our 'window' is gonna be open for..

I agree, I have to laugh when I read some of the negative posts on Yarran and their concerns.

As long as he doesn't just want to go home, he'll develop.
The game against Sydney showed flashes of what we all want to see.
