Why We Are Better Than The Rest

Geoff McClure notes in The Age Sporting Life today, that tomorrow night Carlton will be the first club to pass the 1 million spectators mark this year. Beating out of course our collegues from the Lexus Centre.

This news won't be good for the Melvster. Who would have thought we'd have more spectators see us at the grounds than anyone else.

I guess we really are coming

We'd have attendances at least twice that if we had Alan Richardson

Imagine what they'd be if we had drafted Rich instead of Yarran!! (ducks for cover!)

Yeah, there's been 5 games this year with over 80K. Three of them featuring us, all of them featuring "the big 4" clubs.

Our crowds would be better if we still played at Princes Park.

It's not bad considering we only play 8 games at the G and the ferals have 14.

Heard Sheeds speak at a social function the other night....said it was really difficult to pick up the phone to Collingwood to propose the Anzac day match.......mentioned that he thought about ringing us but that would have been more painful  :donk:

This is nearly true. We still need to get more than 62,000 on Friday night. If we don't, Collingwood will be the first club past the 1,000,000 mark.

If the forecast is good then I'd say there's a decent chance of getting 62k.

Yes we'd fill up the G with that tiny hand bastard, but in 2 to 3 years and beyond with you know who, we'd have to relocate our home games to Estádio do Maracanã.

Not if there's rain, thunder and hail as mentioned on the pre game thread.

Proof again that you can't manufacture...

Rivalry Round
Heritage Round
Blockbusters

They are, because they are.

Money can't buy it, and on-field performance - we've been shit for years - can't shake it.

We are the navy blues.

This my be a little off track but can someone tell me who gets the money?

If it's our home game and 80 000 rock up do the Blues gets the lot or does the other club get a portion, after the AFL take their cut of course. ???
