Someone should have started a "The Ratten Thread, for beginners" thread.

I was pondering doing that on the way home today, but couldn't be bothered working out what the hell was being said in the first one.

Now now KK whilst I admit there was some off the topic posts in the previous thread I really believe it is healthy to keep discussing our coaching department. Criticism if constructive may lead to improvements or at the very least it may help some on here vent some built up (and IMO justified) frustration or maybe get some sort of handle of where we are heading tactically speaking....but right now we are heading for a big game this week against the pace setters of the last 3 seasons....what a massive opportunity for Ratts to give the boys some freedom to play on instinct. We have seen glimpses of this but only when we've had our backs to the wall...I'd like to see it from the start...

Yep, don't disagree at all.

It's not what was mostly said which I found objectionable, but the manner in which it was said.

Anyway....

NO HIGH CONTACT, PLAY ON!

sounds like a love in at the moment. I'll give it 2 pages and then, let the games begin.
BTW...as this is a temporary purge or truce of sorts, can we at least all agree on one thing
WE LOVE CARLTON
I think we can agree on this.....can we???

And now the bell rings for round 2
Ratts is not the answer

If you blokes can come up with some new arguments that would be good.

Otherwise we are back with "Ratts is not the man" "yes he is" "Well He might be" "No he's not".

Looks like I will be the first!

He has no Game plan.

I can't actually define a game plan or provide examples of other teams, but I know he doesn't have one.

Well I've got a question or two.

Does anyone think, rightly or wrongly, the Ratts is not the wrong man for the right job? And if so why how can he right it so that he is the right man. Or did he just get get the gig being in the right place at the right time, or the wrong place at the right time?

Yours truly Dr Zeuss.

I think you've needlessly confused yourself more than required there Muzza but that tends to happen when you try and analyse what Ratts has in mind out there...

But back to your question... Ratts came about via a dubious process which I'd prefer not to go back into. Suffice to say he is here now and with Sticks at the helm he aint going nowhere.

So... :? ....we have to try and make it work....how do we do this? It has been suggested that we bring in over the summer some more astute people to assist Ratts tactically. This is one method and will most likely be the one taken if we have any chance of being a genuine chance next season. If this at the very least doesn't occur then we're knackered IMO.

To answer your last question...Ratts was the wrong man in the right place surrounded by the wrong people at the right time.... :? :sly:

He's gonna mature like a good grange wine.
I'm sure he has a (cunning)plan.
Go Blues.
Go Ratts.

We definitely need to get off to a fast start. Geelong has won 14 first quarters and lost only four this season, ranked No.1 in the AFL, while we have won just the eight first quarters which puts us mid pack. The Cats like to smash teams early and then take the foot off the gas, but the Saints, Lions, Hawks and Crows haven't allowed them to get away easy.

On the other hand, we haven't won a first quarter by more than two goals since round 8, and have only won three first quarters since round 8 (against West Coast, Brisbane and Sydney) for three wins.

We need to back ourselves at the clearances and get quick ball forward. Hadley has to play despite his average disposal as he, Gibbs and Murphy have a massive role to play because we know Ling is the best in the business and will sit in Juddy's pocket. Quick ball won't allow their backs to zone off and without Scarlett and Taylor, they are left with Harley and Milburn who while really good at zoning off, aren't quick nor terribly good in the one-on-one's these days, Mackie (who will probably go to Fev, and will do pretty well unless one-on-one) and Enright and Corey (who are both guns, Enright in particular is the most underrated player in the Geelong team - never get beaten).

Betts has to be front and square and I believe Garlett or Robbo have to play (leaning to Garlett, even though I expect Robbo to develop into a 'big game' specialist) to provide huge 'frontal pressure' because as I said, while they are quick of mind, we can pressure them because they aren't quick of foot now in the back half.

Probably not much about Ratten, this post...whoops. No doubt my post not being about Ratten is clearly Ratten's fault. Sack him

Right now in the Carlton heirarchy there is a state of trepidation on Ratts.......

The problem is its their fault not Ratts fault.

Ratts needs to turn this around as the doubts are spilling out and thats not good for a coach.

Oh and baz baz... even a dancer can see we have no gameplan!!!... and we need to find ourselves a gameplan.. to remove ourselves from the average ...
My job is an honourable job... and i am a bit of a billy elliot....im good at what i do.. and in the overall scheme of what i do... im not struggling... even though i dont have the resources ratten has to back me up....

Till ratten becomes good at what HE does... he will have to accept the criticisms..

Right now.. he is NO GOOD... so he gets criticised..

just like anyone else who is no good!!!
