Scotland and Stevens need to learn defensive footy to retain their spot. Since returning to the seniors Scotland is still struggling to pick up an opponent. His effort early on Liam Anthony was a disgrace.
I'll give Stevens credit, at least he took his medicine and improved the aspects of his game that required attention.

If they perform as required, they'll get a game. Simple.
Making baseless excuses for them achieves little.
