Pros
Gibbs, worked well most of the game. Starting to become very accomplished.
Murph, not as strong for the 4 quarters involved, but best ever 4 goals in a game very handy.
Kreuzer, his second efforts are fantastic.
Mitch, flaky throughout, but, again, his second efforts are superb.
T-bird & Bower, firstly, thank god they're okay, but a courageous effort from both.
Hadley gave us a bit in the third especially. Very good in close, if a bit patchy overall.

Cons
Too slow to react to the Judd/Greenwood match up.
Fevola's set shot goal kicking. Eighteen rounds in, I think its safe to say there's a habit forming here. WHAT ARE WE DOING TO @#$%&! FIX IT!!!
A win is a win, but we were pretty crap for most of the night and lucky to get away with it.

Oh yeah, forgot, ANDREW WALKER got through the game okay. Here's hoping his injury demons are well behind him now.

Pro:
The win and the valuable 4 points.
1AW got a game under the belt...

Cons:
Had to rely on Norths dubious kicking to get over the line.
To want to understand what our system of play is out there.
We may need to have the number of players on the bench rule changed during the week in order for Ratts to have enough taggers for the Cats...

Haven't really thought too much about the best players at this stage however it was very clear that Houla kept us in it in the 1st half!

Pros:

- Gibbs, Murphy, Fev and Stevens
- T-Bird for his courage
- Bower's injury wasn't bad thankfully
- Walker survived

Cons:

- Refer to Brett Ratten thread.
- We are a very average side since the break.

Other than we won that was the most insipid game of football I have seen Carlton play all year. I only hope that is the trough because I can't see a genuine peak any time soon.

Pros:
- Stevens is back in town
- Murphy and Gibbs played reasonable games
- Thornton is proving the critics wrong

Cons:
- Hadley is useless
- Fevola is a total headcase
- We were let off the hook by a side that has lost 8 straight
- The boys ran around the ground like schoolboys. We had absolutely no structure.

My last point is aimed squarely at Ratten. I seriously hope he is not around next year. We should not have won that game.

Pros:

Stevens run, disposal and effort putting his body in were great tonight. Exactly what we want to see
Armfield - His run was great and disposal was a lot better than usual I thought - Excluding the kickout!
Austin - Put his body on the line at crucial stages when North were threatening and saved our ass a few times. He also bothers to do things like shepherd when someone else has the footy unlike some others!
Gibbs - Great game from him
T-Bird - Kicked some crucial goals up forward
Hadley - Hardness at the contest & winning the ball
Fev - Kept trying all night and helped with a few assists
Murphy
Walks getting through unscathed
We managed to shake off an opponent who were giving everything they had to win for their skipper

Cons:

Some of the kicking out was quite bad and we gave North ample opportunity to steal the game from us & Armfield should never be kicking out
Hadley - Some of his disposal was very costly
A number of times there were either a free man inside 50 or someone running inside from the square who was free or streaming forward with space on his man and the option wasn't used

Pros - Let me think on that.

Cons - our complete and utter lack of desire and intensity.

Pros: Murphy and Gibbs are all class.

Cons: We would be very ordinary without them.

As would St Kilda without Riewoldt & Kosi, as West Coast are without Judd & Cousins.

Pros: Thornton can also play as a forward. Gibbs absolute star. Was great to see our midfield operate well even when Juddy was in the forward line. And we are on way to FINALS.

Cons: Felt like we dodged a bullet after playing another disappointing first half, I thought it would be a repeat of last Friday night.

When a team that can't make the 8 is moving the ball with more fluidity and purpose than us, you have to really question what's happening at Carlton.

Another uninspiring win that merely papers over the cracks. We haven't played a good game of footy for almost 2 months, and that was a loss to St. Kilda.

We beat a bottom 6 team because they kicked a million points in the last quarter (that surprise surprise we often failed to clear). Add that to the shabby performances of the last 6 weeks and the conclusion is that we are limping toward the end of the season, and going nowhere fast.

This footy club needs a massive shakeup. Beating crap teams in a crap manner shouldn't fool anyone.

PROS (same old)

1. Gibbs - elite 2nd half

2. Murph

3. Judd

4. Kreuzer fought back well after losing in the ruck early

(real shock those 4)

5. I know he butchers it, but Hadley gets his hands on the footy "in the bubble" - we've missed that terribly and another sterling decision by Ratts to leave him out whilst playing modern footballing luminaries such as future Brownlow Medallist Greg Bentley

Houla was very good too

CONS (same old)

1. Armfield kicking out was the cream of our continuing kickout farces.

2. We just struggle to move the ball end to end with any direct purpose. We get pushed wide, we slow up. Unless Gibbs wins it and follows up we don't break lines.

3. The forward entries remain a shambles

4. The tactics change from week to week in a reactive manner - it's so obvious. We were too slow and conservative last week - so this week it's playon at all costs leading to Gibba's stupid handball to Judd for their first goal. THERE IS NO CONSTANT GAMEPLAN. It's just "do the opposite of what was crap last week"

5. Like Heath but he's struggling I think.

Our match committee is one of the the worst in the AFL. And as in all organisations, it's leader Brett Ratten is culpable.

If those in charge of the club aren't thinking of major shake-ups I'm horrified.

Finals or no finals - it really doesn't matter.
