The list analysis in this thread is fairly accurate. Supporters, the board and the football department should be frightened by the fact that the Carlton Football Club 4 years into a rebuilding program, only has 17-20 players up to AFL standard. (AFL standard not "Top Four Standard") This is the last year where the list can be improved significantly before the draft is decimated by Gold Coast and West Sydney draft concessions. The writing is on the wall that this era of players will not share premiership success without an agressive draft/recruiting drive otherwise be prepared to accept bottom 4 mediocrity and another crack at rebuilding. These are the radical steps that need to be considered if the recruiting staff believe there is quality in the draft:

(1)- Trade Fevola for 2 high draft picks even 2 between 10 & 15.
Sacrifice 60 games in his body & 200 goals for 1 x quality 150 game flanker wingman who can kick & key
position player with potential.

(2)- Trade Eddie Betts for a top 20 pick that can garner a key position player. (Garlett will fill the Betts Breach)

(3)- Trade one of Jamison or Thornton for a top 20 pick if we believe (Austin can become a key defender) & recruit
an extractor who can kick.

(4)- Trade Bryce Gibbs for a top 6 pick if the club believes his lack of athleticism will hamper his development.

(5)- Trade Yarran for a pick between 10 & 20 if its apparent that his commitment will hamper his development.

Come of Carlton, push the boundaries of possibility, the writing is on the wall that waiting for the current list to develop is not an alternative because the list isn't as good as we thought it was

congratulations, for the most idiotic post i have ever seen on this forum, and i have seen some howlers.

you want to trade, fevola, betts, gibbs, yarren, jamison for a whopping 1 x top 5 pick, 3 x top 20 pick and two picks between 10 & 15.

so you are trading five players who have serious talent, for 5 players who could be nothing .... thank !@#$%& you arent anywhere near our recruitment team.

while we are at it, lets trade judd for pick 10

Apparently we're at 9 and 8 and at the bottom edges of the 8.

Apparently it's not that we lost, which we all largely expected (ie being in the bottom part of the 8), but how we lost.

Oh you heroes.

You remind me of a bunch of yanks. Look at the bigger picture, the OP wants us to be proactive and make a short term sacrifice (probably one) for the future good of the club. Yes the details are dramatic but I prefer that to a bunch of smug gits with vice of choice in hand thinking that results will come just because we are Carlton.

I can do it too - it proves nothing!

Scott Saunders,

You have no insight into list management. You are dreaming if you think our current list or future recruiting can lead to premiership success during an era when the draft will be compromised. You can not face harsh realities and look at carlton through rose coloured glasses. This list needs key position players & a midfield extractors. There are some high Carlton draft picks that could be flawed. I am not saying that they are but they might be. Hawthorn won a premiership by taking risks at the draft table. You spend your time sitting on your hands suggesting nothing and taking pot shots. I'll come up with some suggestions that might make difference. The difference between you and me is you advocate & support mediocrity. I want to support a premiership side.
